Potions and Chews

A while later I was running back down the stairs to potions, my cloak blowing behind me and Sai panting as she tried to keep up. I reached the door to the room. I was so glad that I had asked about where my classes where earlier or else I would have run straight past it because the door was already open. The lady with greasy black hair stood at the front of the room. The Gryffindors were already there and most of the Slytherins were there too. She looked up at us and for a moment I saw recognition in her eyes, then it was gone.
"Take a seat." She spat.
Sai and I sat at an empty table close to the door. The lady frowned at us again.
"You must be Lily Potter? Your fathers' reputation for being late and disrespectful procedes you." She scowled.
She ignored Sai and started the lesson. I was very used to people knowing me because of my father, but this felt different like I was in trouble for something, something bad.
Her slow but captivating voice broke my thoughts.
"I am Professor Snape, most of you would be aware of that name because my father worked here. Remember that I am not my father and will definitely not mess up like he did, and I will definitely not be as soft on you as he was." She glared around the room, pausing for dramatic effect.
If what my father told me was true then Snape was anything but soft he was hard on them but for a good reason, I can't think what her reason is, she's hadn't even met me or my dad... Right?
"Take out your books and we will start with something a bit easier for you flyweights."
I opened my textbook and opened it to the right page on the first flick, I almost smiled at my 'amazing talent'. then I realised that this was potions, and it was probably going to be like muggle chemistry. I was never good at chemistry. Snape's voice rang out around the cold stone room, various dead things lay floating in jars on the shelves. I tried to listen, I tried to read, but the lines blurred together, the number mixed and the formulas kept changing. About 10 minutes into the lesson I gave up. I starting scanning the seats for Styker but he was nowhere to be found. I reached into my pocket, and very carefully took out an unwrapped orange chew. I had unwrapped it in preparation for something like this, but I know I can't use it again, I was hoping to save it but the situation and my boredom where both dire. Putting it in my mouth, I silently thanked the Weasley twins, knowing that I could only write to one after school. Before the effects started I had 5 minutes to finish to chew and I saw Matt Weasley, who's parents where Hermione and Ron, glance back at me and wink, one hand raised in the air to answer a question. He was a strange person, he had his fathers taste for trouble and his mothers' value of intelligence and he was so good at wizard chess. His cousins Charlotte (parents where Bill and Fleur) and Fred (parent George )(only up to 4th book any ships???) had both graduated, Charlotte was studying dragons like her uncle and Fred was working in Weasley Wizard Wheezes with his father. I don't know if any other member of the Weasley family had children because it was just too confusing for me, even if I was one of them.

A metallic smell filled my nose and something wet was running down my face. I touched it and cursed, I had taken the wrong chew, I didn't have the other half for nosebleed nougat! Sai raised her hand and alerted Snape, who without looking up from the textbook, just told me to go to the hospital wing. Matt saw the panic on my face and asked if he could take me, blood now dripping down my white shirt under my robes. Snape sighed again and nodded. Matt lept up, not taking anything with him and basically pushed me out the door. When we were out of earshot he pulled me aside.
"I think I'm going to be sick!" I groaned, feeling lightheaded with blood now all down the front of my robes.
"I knew you couldn't have taken that one on purpose because you absolutely hate blood, the hospital wing won't have a cure for this! I know Stryker has some antidote chews but I don't know where he is! Lily take out the map."
"Matt! Dad told me only to use it in emergencies when no one is looking!" I sighed, dizzy.
"Lily if you don't open it you're going to pass out! I'd say it was an emergency!"
I took an old, folded piece of parchment out from my robe pocket and tapped it with my wand.
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." I managed to whisper.
A map showing the castle came up, Matt scanned it for a small dot labelled Stryker. He was in the Gryffindor common room at the top of the castle and there was no way I could walk there. Matt looked at me, apologetic.
"Sorry Lily, Wingardium Leviosa." I hovered just above the floor but my robes touched the ground so it looked like I was walking, kinda.
He half ran half walked to the staircase and started to climb them, being sure to jump over the trick step that his father or mother probably told him about. He tried to act normal and blend in with the drizzle of people that usually flooded the castle, but fitting in is not easy when you're a first year Gryffindor, sticking out your wand behind your back and being followed by a half-conscious Slytherin who was bleeding very heavily and appeared to be floating. But we eventually made it to the portrait.
