The hall was stripped of everything apart from two plates piled with our favourite foods and a teacher that I saw sitting in the centre chair during the sorting. She had a friendly look on her young face, vibrant red hair that reached the small of her back, and was sprinkled with freckles on every area of exposed skin. She wore black robes and had black, thick tinned glasses perched on her small, feminine nose. She looked young but tired, weighed down by some great weight. She spoke.
"Ah, our first years, Lily and Stryker. You know your parents caused a lot of trouble for my great uncle. You two are following their example I see. Oh well. What can one do but roll with the punches? Um, so to speak. Oh my, you two must be frozen to death! I told that overgrown squid to stop splashing people! You know I tried to get rid of it but the Slytherins made a petition and of course the Hufflepuffs all signed is as soon as they heard 'save an animal' but you don't want to hear about that. Now both of you eat up so you can get dressed in some warmer clothes. Of course, you don't know where your common rooms are, but I'll tell you in a minute and, oh dear you missed all the announcements. Let's start with that first." She said, rambling on.
After she had finished her announcements, she pointed us to our separate common rooms. Stryker's was in the tower and mine was in the dungeon, which I thought was very unfair. After entering my common room I found it full of children and teens but no one seemed to notice me. I went to my room, which was shared by three other people, and got changed into dry, warm clothes. I was still freezing, having my bedroom by the lake did not help. The small, dull fire did little to stop my shivering.
"I hope Stryker is warm, he probably is concerning what my dad told me about his common room. It is just bias if you ask me, I mean why is it so dark and dull and cold in here? I like the dark and the colour scheme but the cold..?" I muttered to myself. That's when I heard a small voice behind me.
"Um, excuse me? You looked cold so I brought you a blanket and some hot cocoa." Said a voice.
I turned my eyes away from the fire and toward a girl. She had dark skin, black, curly hair and a small face with dark, nervous eyes. I recognised her from the train ride here, I had sworn she was going to be in Hufflepuff. I have her a small smile and she grinned back at me, taking a seat next to me beside the fire. She put the blanket around me and thrust the coco in my hands. I thanked her and asked her name.
"Sai Ridi," she replied.
"Um, yeah, I'm going to call you Sai. you know, I could have sworn you'd be in Hufflepuff with compassion like that, what happened? They are going to eat you alive if you keep this up. Not that I'm not thankful. But most of the people here are mean and are just begging to start some drama. If you show kindness, you show weakness."
"I think that in a place like you just described that a little compassion wouldn't go amiss." She simply said.
'Omg, I must protect this little, innocent creature.' I thought.
"We share a room right?"
"Yeah."
"Ok, if anyone gives you grief just tell me, ok?"
"Um, ok?"
We sat there for a while and just talked about small things until the question I had been dreading came up.
"...Apart from that my family is ok. Who're your parents?"
"Ah, um, I, ah, yeah? HarrypotterandGinnyweasly," I sputtered all in one breath.
"Um, say again?" She asked.
I took a deep breath.
"Ok, please don't judge me on my family, I am my own person and they're choices don't define me," I said.
"Wow, its like you're related to Voldemort." She laughed, then when I didn't smile she continued. "Wait, are you?"
"Um kinda I guess, I mean I haven't really thought about it that way."
Instantly, I thought about Stryker who was related to Voldemort and not surrounded by people who would it was cool. Especially after my father, a Gryffindor defeated him.
"No, I'm actually the daughter of Harry and Ginny," I said, shrugging.
"Potter, Harry Potter?"
(Sorry to interrupt but I unintendedly used Draco's line and if you read it in his voice with a smirky tone you are my new best friend.)
"Yeah."
"Excuse me for a moment."
Shew got up and left the room. Then a few minutes later I heard someone yelling 'IM FRIENDS WITH HARRY POTTERS DAUGHTER B*****S'. Then she came into the room again.
"I was going to say don't tell anybody but it seems you already told the entire castle."
"Oh, sorry. But I won't mention it again or ask you questions because I can understand how absolutely sick and tired you would be of that by now."
And true to her word that was the last we ever spoke of it, she didn't even ask why I was in Slytherin.
