Harry, Ginny and Lucius

My eyes dropped the floor and I turned my head until I saw a pair of black leather shoes and a pair of black boots. The man was wearing Aurora robes and the woman had jeans and a t-shirt. The man had green eyes, like Lily's, circle glasses and a lightning bolt scar. The woman had long red hair, like Lily's, and was both extremely worried and angry. Harry spoke first, his voice bordering between angry and concerned.
"Now see here Malfoy, I came because I got an owl that said my daughter was in intensive care and that all magic had failed when I arrived I see you and Matthew about to have a punch-up."
"Sir, it was all Stryker's..." Matt chimed in.
"Matthew Weasley! If the next word out of your mouth is 'fault' I will personally apparrate your mother and father here right now and then we'll see who's fault it is!" Ginny interrupted, yelling. "I don't give a quaffle about who did what! The reality is you three are supposed to look after each other! Now I'm going to see my daughter and I want you two to do some serious thinking and go to class!" Then she marched off, not giving them a second thought.
"Um, yeah." Harry started, before gaining confidence and shaking his finger at the boys. "What she said!"
Then he stormed off after Ginny or tried to because he burst into tears when he saw Lily laying on the bed unconscious, covered in blood. I decided that suddenly I wanted to go to class, anything to get away from this scene. They were acting like she was dead, but she was fine, she was always fine...right? Shaking my head, I willed myself to leave the wing, but my feet refused to shift. My knees felt weak and I could feel my face whitening. My brain seemed to have realised what the rest of me already knew and it was panicking. I looked at Matt, who, all things considered, seemed fine.
"Look, mate, I'm sorry about earlier, it's just that, well Lily's family and I kinda lost it, I just wanted someone to blame, you know?" he shuffled uncomfortably, "What I'm trying to say is.."
"Yeah, I know, I'm sorry too, don't worry about it." Then I paused, trying to mimic his strange way of talking, "Mate."
A glimmer of shock and joy shone in Matts' eye before he led me out of the ward and into the common room as neither of us felt like going back to class.
The walk to the common room seemed short compared to when I had to run to the hospital wing. We reached the portrait and The Fat Lady was there, seemingly passed out, a bottle of sherry at the bottom of her frame. Matt poked her with his wand and said the password. The portrait swung open, The Fat Lady still asleep. Matt and I went into our dorm and collapsed onto our separate beds, even though we still had one class left. I heard a crackling nose of paper and felt something under my robes. I sat up and looked at the letter on my bed. I swore, very loudly, something I usually don't do. Matt came straight into my bed, throwing the curtains aside.
"What is it?" He asked, alarmed.
Again I looked at the letter, I knew the type well. Thin, creamy white paper, scented vanilla, bordered with black, green and silver lines with fancy writing on the front. I held it up to show Matt, too afraid to speak.
"It's a letter? So what?" He asked. "It's not a howler is it?"
"No," I replied, mouth dry and voice unstable, "it's from Lucius."
Matts' eyes widened as well.
"Isn't he supposed to be in Azkaban? Or dead? Or both?" He asked, now also alarmed.
I shook my head.
"He's got friends in high places that keep him out, and he is most definitely still alive."
There was a pause, then Matt spoke.
"You gonna open it?" He asked, curious.
I was too afraid to open it yet too curious to leave it there, besides if I left it I would get in trouble for not opening it.
I tore the corner of the envelope, not bothered to open it properly. I dug my fingers in the tare and ripped the rest of it open, a strong smell of vanilla filled the room. Slightly shaking I opened the letter, this is what I had been fearing since I got sorted into Gryffindor. I know I couldn't hide the truth for long but how could he have found out so fast? I held my breath and retrieved the letter from the envelope. A piece of folded parchment came out, I unfolded it to see a blank page. Matt was confused and seemed disappointed. I, however, was far from it. If he had put this particular spell on it then this is something he wanted only me to see. I tapped my wand to the paper.
"Salazar Slytherin demands to know," I whispered.
It was a stupid password but Lucius liked it. As soon as I said that, a black ink snake appeared on the paper, it slithered across the page, leaving black letters behind, once it had finished it vanished. I looked at the letter and Matt edged closer to read it.
'To Styker Malfoy, son of Draco Malfoy, Pureblood. Gryffindor common room, first room, first bed.
I wish you to know that my sources tell me that you are in Gryffindor, your father does not know and I will not tell him. He will write to you and you must tell him that you are in the only honourable house in that whole school, Slytherin. You are to stay away from Matthew Weasly and Lillian Potter as they will damage not only your already shattered reputation but also the family name. I will express my anger on this topic when you come back for the school holidays. I will know if you lie.
From, The most honourable Lucius Malfoy, pure blood, Malfoy Manner.'
When I had read the entire thing I kept reading the last word over and over until Matt had finished because I knew what would happen if I stopped reading.
Matt finished reading and looked up at me.
"You ok Mate?"
I looked up at him, my face a rock hard mask. The parchment in my hands suddenly caught alight and turned to ashes that disappeared when they hit the floor.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I lied, a straight face giving nothing away.
I wasn't going to let Lucius get into my head. Lily was right, there was nothing he could do while I was at Hogwarts and I could stay here over the holidays. I would never get upset, not even because of my grandfather. Matt spoke.
"Are you going to tell...?"
I cut him off.
"No, Lily doesn't need to know, I'm still going to talk to both of you. I'm not going to listen to him."
Matts eyebrows almost got lost in his red bushy hair. Then he turned and went into his own bed. As if waiting for Matt to leave, a beautiful thorny owl tapped at my window. Slightly happier I opened it and let the owl in.
"Hello, Enchantress."
The owl happily bobbed it's head and hopped in, perching on my shoulder and head butting my ear. I reached for the note on its leg and untied it. My fathers' knots were always hard to untie. I opened the letter and read it. Recognising my fathers' curly handwriting.
'To Stryker Malfoy, my son, Gryffindor tower.
I saw Lucius sending you an owl. Don't pay too much attention to what he says, I will try to protect you when you come home but he is so much more powerful than me. You can stay with the Potters or the Weasleys if you want, I'll take the blame. I heard you are in Gryffindor and I hope you know that I couldn't care less what house you got into, as long as you enjoy it. I also think that Snow might have snuck into your case? Reply if you find her. I hope you enjoy Hogwarts and if anyone hurts you just say 'My father will hear about this!' It works 100%.
Love you son, Draco Malfoy, Malfoy manner.'
I finished reading and felt relieved. "How could someone as evil as Lucius raise a son like Draco." I thought, "I've heard that he wasn't always kind but still..."
I opened my drawer and took out some parchment and a quill, I started writing a reply when, for the second time that day, my wand vibrated. Heart racing, my shaking hand reached out to grab it. please, not more bad news.
