Jake Comes

CHAPTER 6

EREN'S POV

"What was with Levi last night?" I thought as I got dressed. When my uniform was fully on I got a call from Jake,"That's right, he's coming today!" I yelled as I answered,"Hey!"

"Whats up Eren, I'm at the front gate. Can you help me out?" Jake asked. I could tell he was nervous by the sound of his voice,"Of course, give me a second." With that I hung up and ran out,"Eren! Where you going?!" Erwin yelled running after me. I waved him off and said,"My brother is here!" I saw that he was running with me,"I want to meet him." Erwin said.

We ran down the hall and to the front building, when we got there Jake was sitting on the fountain's edge waiting for us,"Eren!!" He yelled. I ran up to him and pulled him into a great big hug, I was crying. It had been so long since I had last seen him,"Eren, stop crying." He whispered brushing the hair out of my face. I only smiled and hugged him tighter.

When I finally let go I introduced him to Erwin,"This is my roomy, Erwin. Erwin this is Jake my twin brother." Erwin stood there dumbfounded,"Y-ya'll look exactly the same!" He said with a smile. We nodded in unison,"Well, except for the eye color, mine is brown and Eren's is a beautiful ocean blue." Jake said draping an arm over my shoulder.

"Green." I corrected. Jake looked over at me with a smirk,"Ba~lue" He teased. I frowned and pushed him in the fountain water, but with his arm draped over me he pulled me in with him,"Eren! What the hell?!" He asked laughing. I laughed too splashing water in his face, in which he returned as well. Right then there was a huge splash and a loud yell,"Yahoo!!!!" I looked over and saw Hanji a soaking mess,"Hanji-san! What are you doing?" I asked.

 She smiled and said,"Meeting your twin bro. Hi! I'm Hanji!" She out stretched a hand for him to take, but he didn't take it. He leaned in close and kissed her on both cheeks,"Bonjour!" He said with a smile. Hanji's face lit up like a Christmas tree,"W-why did he do that?" Hanji asked me. I giggled and said,"Jake is taking french classes. That's his major." Hanji rubbed both cheeks and splashed him with water,"You could have warned me!" She giggled.

I got out and helped them out as well,"I guess I will have to do laundry today." I sighed. Jake only laughed at my humility,"You are too, you little prick." I said smirking. His head fell and he said,"Sowwy." I gave him a hug and said,"Well lets see where you'll be staying and lets go get your uniform. After he was dressed he got his room key and number,"Yes!! I get to room with you!" He yelled. We gave each other high fives and ran off to the room.

  Jake got dressed and looked in the mirror,"Nice fit!" I said patting him on his shoulder. He gave me a warm smile and I got my stuff ready to go,"Well, Jake. You have one more day to get your stuff together so unpack and I'll see you later." I gave him one last hug and left.

As I was walking past the music room I saw Levi standing near the window,"Levi?" I called. He turned around and said,"You look exactly the same." I walked inside and sat down on the window sill,"What are you doing in here?" I asked. I looked down at me with a look of sadness,"Whats wrong?'' I asked. Levi's hand quickly made its why to my collar,"Your soaking wet you know. You'll catch a cold, you should change." but as soon as he said it his hand was gone.

  I wanted him to keep his hold on me so badly, I want to know what was eating away at Levi, I wanted to know what was making him have such a look of depression on his face. I got up and left him by himself,"He just needs some time alone." I whispered. I didn't believe myself, Levi needed someone badly. He might have friends but who does he have to really love?

When I got to my room I switched uniforms with Jake, since he wasn't going to be going to class he agreed. I placed my uniform in the dryer and left for the day. Class went on as usual, Hanji answering wrong on answers, me getting all of them right and Levi being quiet. At lunch I went to the music room instead of eating. Hanji wasn't so happy about it but I really didn't care. I wanted to see if there was some sort of clue why Levi was in there this morning.

But when I got in there, there was nothing. The rest of the day I kept my distance from Hanji and everyone else, especially Levi. I didn't want to cause him anymore trouble than I already had. When the final school bell had rung I left the room without a word to anyone, I wanted to go to the music room and clear my head. With books in hand I made my way down the halls and corridors, slowly making my way to the music room.

  When I finally got there no one was in sight,"Thank God." I sighed. I placed my books on a spare seat and went to the piano sitting next to the window. I sat down but couldn't play, my fingers wouldn't move. My fingers were frozen in place, they wouldn't move under my command,"Whats going on?" I questioned. My heart was beating fast and I was panicking,"No, i-if I can't play then I-I'm useless." I cried.

Just then Levi walked in, his shirt was unbuttoned and his tie was messily placed in the middle,"L-levi-senpai." I stuttered. He walked up to the piano and leaned against the top,"What's wrong with you?" He asked. He glanced over to the side with a blank expression,"W-what do you mean?" I asked. He turned around and placed both elbows on the lid and looked me in the face,"You didn't say a word to anyone this morning after you saw me. I saw you with your brother, but once you saw me you went mute. Why?" He asked.

  I looked down and moved my hands into my lap,"I was scared." I softly said. He moved away from the piano and sat next to me on the bench,"Why?" I didn't make any effort to look him in the face, I just wanted to be alone,"B-because you seemed hurt this morning. I was scared that if I said something to you that it my hurt you and you would hate me." I could hear Levi's breathing hitch in his throat,"Eren...I could never hate you. I don't know what it is but something prevents me from hating you no matter what you do."

He showed no emotion in his tone of voice but in his eyes I could tell that I pulled a string, and that string was attached to his heart. Maybe, just maybe I could make him human. I felt him grab my wrist,"Play." He said softly. I shook my head and said,"I can't." He grabbed my other hand and moved it to the correct keys,"Yes you can, I heard you play, you were amazing." He said angrily. I shook my head again crying,"I don't know what it is but I tried playing earlier and I couldn't move my fingers!".

  Levi softly picked up my index finger and pushed it down on a key,"Now move the other one." He commanded. I tried but couldn't do it, he used his other hand to move it as well,"Don't make me relive 5 years of piano lessons." He said somewhat aggravated. I lowered my head and took a deep breath,"I'm sorry, Levi-senpai." I choked. I felt him rub my back and say,"You've done nothing to apologize for."

He helped me move my fingers until I had control over them again and was able to play by myself. Although I would rather have him help me,"L-levi-senapi?" I asked looking up at him. He looked over at me with a blank expression,"What is Mikasa to you?" I asked. His eyes widened at my words,"Why do you ask?" He questioned. I looked the other way quickly,"N-nothing."

  "She's my sister. Why did you ask that?''

I moved away from him and said,"I-its just, you guys looked really close and I hadn't seen her in the school so I was wondering how you knew her." Levi moved closer to me and I stood up abruptly,"I need to check up on Jake. He's probably wondering where I am. Bye Levi." I said walking out. I ran down the hallway to my dorm,"I just need to get away.'' I whispered.

  When I walked inside Jake was sleeping in his bed and so was Erwin. I got in my bed as well after undressing. Just as I was about to fall asleep I felt some weight on my bed,"Eren?" Jake shook me awake. I cracked open my eyes to a terrified face,"Y-yeah?" I asked. He looked down and said,"I had a nightmare. Can I sleep with you?" I sighed and nodded.

When he was in the covers and comfortable he smiled,"Thanks Eren. You know I don't mind you not wanting to follow in Dad's footsteps right." The very mention of my father made me pissed,"Yeah." I said rather mean. He lowered his head and placed it under my chin,"Just make sure he doesn't hurt me and mom." He whispered before falling asleep.

  Jake and my mother are all I have left so I will do anything to protect them. I wrapped my arms around him protectively and stroked his back,"I promise." I whispered.

That night I went to sleep in worry. Jake would never bring up dad out of the blue so that means something is wrong, but what? If it has to deal with me then I'm leaving and running away. There's no need to endanger the ones I care for around me. I just hope I will be forgiven by...Levi, if I do.
