CHAPTER 9
MORETTI'S POV
"Moretti, please spit your gum out. We need to make a good impression....and take the piercings out." My mother instructs me as she finishes applying her makeup.
I spit my chewing gum into a napkin and toss it into the trash can while we continue the ride to Titan Academy. Since my parents are both wealthy and think we need to make an excellent impression on everybody, they decided to have our limo drive us there instead of driving a car like normal people.
My father is a CEO of some company I don't bother paying attention to while my mother is Co-CEO to another company with her best friend.
"Moretti, sweetheart, please fix your uniform. And why are you wearing those ratty old things?" My father asks while pointing to my (brand new) converse.
I just ignore him and continue staring out the window, watching trees and a huge lake go by. Believe it or not, I used to be happy. I used to be in the group of class clowns. We were infamous for our weekly pranks. They were all very funny. Our parents and (sometimes) teachers found them funny too. Well, all but one prank was funny.
I try not to think of it. Yet, just like all the other times I try to not think of it, it plagues my brain until something takes my mind off of it.
"Moretti!" my boyfriend's voice shouts into the red haze. As I stumble through the building, I hear him shouting on the outside, waiting for me to make it out of here with her.
"SHERO!!!" I scream, trying to find her. Part of the roof had already caved in and I wasn't sure where she was.
"SHERO!" I see the familiar shiny black boots sticking out from under a piece of the roof. Rushing over to it, I see Shero's body under the few pieces of ply wood. I push the ply wood roughly out of the way and grab her unconscious form, kissing her head.
"Come on sweetie, we have to get out of here." I mutter and scoop her up into my arms. I hear the sickening sound of the weak roof about to fall down on us. This makes me walk faster towards the entrance of the building. Slight debris shower down around us and I knew that this isn't going to last much longer. I charge to the door and bust it down right as the entire building collapses.
"Moretti....."
Blackness surrounds me.
"Moretti."
I feel so numb...
"Moretti!" It was my mother who was desperately shaking my shoulders and trying to get me out of the hellish trance. I sit up, gasping to get air into my lungs. Running my fingers through my straight hair, I look up at my mother. "Was it Shero again?" She asks quietly and I nod, choking back a sob and holding in the tears. "It's okay to cry Moretti. You're okay. You're okay, baby." My mother's soothing voice coos as she rocks me slightly.
Once I was done crying, I look up to notice that we had arrived at Titan Academy and were parked in the semi circle driveway that lay right in front of the entrance. As I gathered my messenger book bag, I heard my parents outside of the car talking about me.
"Andrew, I'm worried about her. What if she has an attack during class or something?" My mother's voice seeped through the closed limo door. "Leah, she'll be fine. She told us that this was a great school, correct? Then we have nothing to worry about. He'll be there for her. This will be good for everybody."
Ignoring my curiosity of who he was, I slung my bag onto my shoulder and open the limo door. I gasp in surprise as I stare up at the boarding school. No, not school. This place looks like a damn castle.
