I had gone to bed with a packed bag, freshly washed hair and shaved legs. I was preparing for school tomorrow. My uniform was ironed and hanging up in my wardrobe and the butterflies were endlessly going crazy in my stomach, I guess it was safe to say that I was nervous.

I woke up to my alarm blasting ‘Lolita’ The Veronica’s new single. I hopped out of my warm bed, my anxiety forcing me to jump around a bit. I changed into my new school uniform which consisted of a Blue button down shirt with the school name across the breast pocket, and a short grey skirt. To go with the outfit I had thrown on some black ankle top converse which was leather as that was policy in the school.  

I had spent the time last night to straighten my brown hair but ended up throwing it in a high pony tail anyway. I wore the minimal makeup, not wanting to look like the typical cake-faced girl now a day. I applied a thin layer of eye liner to out line my bright blue eyes, and then topped it off with some mascara. I wasn’t really one to apply to much make up.

I straightened my top out and made my way down the hall. It was 8:00am already and my bus would arrive down the street in half an hour. I threw in a piece of toast buttering it quickly when it popped and then stuffed it into my mouth. Lady-like. Me? Yeah right.

“Haley! You still here baby? Oh ok good! When you’re ready just head on over to James’, Your Aunt Kayla said that his friend Beau would be driving you all to school today”.

I only had time to nod and grab my bag before I was being pushed out the door.

“Bye Honey! Have a good day at school!” I heard my mum call before she slammed the door shut. I finally swallowed my toast and stared like an idiot at my door. I hardly got to say good bye to her before she kicked me out. That was pretty strange behavior from my mother; I guess I would just have to talk to her about it after school then.

I walked over to James’s house to see him and Skip chatting on the balcony steps.

“Hey guy’s, I’m not interrupting anything am I?” I asked cheekily.

James laughed and shook his head, but Skip smirked at me.

“As a matter of fact, you are. Until about 10 seconds ago, I was going to stand up and walk over to James, before caressing his face and leaning forward. Then I would pucker my lips, watching for his reaction, and just as we were about to have a hot make-out session I would pull away and laugh in his face.” Skip winked. 

I laughed and took a seat next to him on the steps.

“That breaks my heart Daniel. It truly does.” James moaned with his hands placed over his heart. I giggled at both of the boys and smiled.
