The weekend had passed in a blur. Spending time with your best friend and your new close, funny and terrific friends will do that.

Izzy had managed to calm down about the whole situation, even managing to hang out with the boys (and Sarah) acting as a normal human being would.

But today was Monday, and my mother was forcing me to go to school, even though I would much rather hang out with Iz at home.

Izzy was going to stay with us until the end of the week, leaving late Friday night. That meant that I only had the mornings and afternoons/evenings to hang out with her. But I guess it would have to do, I mean, any opportunity to see my best friend was charitable.

As I proceeded to put on my required school uniform, Izzy lay undisturbed in my bed, eyes closed and peacefully dreaming. As I didn’t want to wake her, I excited my bedroom, hauling my bag onto my back, and picking up my shoes so I could put them on in the kitchen.

As I was brushing my hair, I placed two pieces of bread into the toaster. I flipped my head over and pulled my hair into a messy pony tail, tying a ribbon around it.

I walked on over to the mirror, placed near the front door on the wall. I had decided that my skin looked pretty clear today and didn’t need my usual coat of foundation. Instead I drew a thin layer of eye liner on, and then applied mascara.

By the time I was finished framing my eyes with makeup my toast had popped. I pulled out a plate, knife, butter and vegemite. Buttering my toast before eating it quickly, I rushed into the bathroom so I could brush my teeth before school, like every other morning.

As my phone started to beep, warning me that it was pretty much time to go, I pulled open the bathroom door before rushing out to the kitchen. It was obvious that I hadn’t tied my shoe laces up properly because I went flying through the air. Luckily I caught myself on the edge of the kitchen bench, stopping myself from falling flat on my face. That would not have been good.

I looked down at my phone to hear and see that it was going off, with the familiar One Direction song, Live While We’re Young, alarming me that I had an incoming phone call.

“Hello?” I answered into the phone.

“Yo Haley, where are you?” Jai shouted into the phone.

“Ahh, slight disruption, I won’t be long.” I told him, re-tying my shoe laces.

“That’s the thing! They’ve already left!” He yelled, frustrated.

“What?” I asked.
