Chapter 17

Phoenix's POV:

Oh my god! This movie is so boring. But what is really making me happy right now is sitting next to Scarlett.

Oh shit! I forgot! I have to pay Jace for the cigarette! Wait, I dont have to pay because I didn't even smoke it. So ha!

Finally, the movie is over! And I never let go of Scarlett's hand. When we got outside Jace was standing there, I guess he was waiting for me. He gave me this death glare. I got a text from Jace

Jace: Where's the money?

Scarlett looked worried "Who is that?"

"Its nobody." We walked into the car and I didn't even look at him again.

Well, today is Friday so I won't see him until Monday.

My mom and Scarlett's mom said that Scarlett and I can go out tomorrow.

Scarlett's POV:

I want to scream in joy right now! Phoenix and I get to hang out together tomorrow just the 2 of us. Its going to be great!

Saturday morning:

I walked downstairs and my Dad was standing there waiting at the door for me. He said "Be good." Then kissed me on the forehead, followed by my mom and sister. But my sister said "Don't do anything bad." And then she laughed. I stuck my tounge out at her and left. Phoenix was waiting for me.

We are going to walk there. This is going to be great.

We are walking into town to get frozen yogurt. Thats all we really have enough for to be honest.

While we were walking and talking someone screamed "Just give me the money and no one gets hurt!" Phoenix and I turned around slowly. Its kind of weird because I thought Phoenix knew it was for him. When we turned around, the guy was holding a wooden baseball bat in his hand dragging on the floor behind him.

Phoenix pushed me behind him and said "Just put the bat down you animal."

The guy got very mad and started chasing us. We were running really fast. I kept looking behind us to see if he was still there.... and he was.

And he was running really fast.

Phoenix's POV:

We really need to get away from Jace so we need to cross a busy avenue. I grabbed Scarlett's hand and ran as fast as I could across the street. When we crossed I saw Jace throw a hissy fit. I screamed "SCREW YOU!" He stopped looked at me straight in the eye. And walked across the street.

He freaking WALKED! There were absolutly no freaking cars coming!

He yelled "My dad is going to kill me! Just give me the money!" I found this little park and just sat down on the bench. Scarlett sat down next to me and had fear in her eyes.

Jace found us and looked at us like we were crazy. He said "I stole money from my dad to get you the cigarette! Now hand over the money!" Scarlett stood up and said "What cigarette Phoenix!? I thought you stopped!" I handed him $10. He chased me like an animal for $10?! Scarlett was already walking away. I shoved him out of the way and ran to Scarlett. She had tears in her eyes. She screamed "How could you?! I thought you stopped!"

"Scarlett, trust me I did! I stopped for you! I love you!" Then I held her close and kissed her. We broke apart and she said "You promise?"

"Promise."

I think we are going to be good. For a long time.
