"Please Nia! Let's talk about this! Turn the truck around!" Gianluca yell as his car speeds closer towards us. Luca seems to be distraction me but Isabella and Sarah keep an eye on Angelo's car that's closing up on the left side of the truck. What could they be up to?
Curiosity takes over me as I ask the dumbest question alive. "Who's in the car with you?"
"Um... why?"
"Curious." I say bluntly.
"Myself and the boys!" I nod my head.
"Come on Nia!" Vince shouts while poking his head out of the back seat window. "Turn the truck around. You don't want to say no!" His voice sounds like a warning call but for some reason I choose to ignore it.
I chuckle as I shake my head. "How about this? No!"
"You asked for it!" Vince screams.
Nodding his head at Angelo's car, I see Angelo popping out of the rooftop of the car. "I told you Fionia! You can never leave!" Angelo yells.
"Oh yeah? And what are you going to do about it?" I challenge while shouting at the top of my voice.
His lips twist into a smirk as he holds something in his hands. "Then I guess you'll have to learn the hard way!" He shouts as he throws something onto the back of the truck.
Looking down at the object, my eyes widen as I smack the hood of the truck. "Rick! Grenade on the truck! Get out!" My heart pounds against my chest as I watch the grenade. Another metal on metal contact caught my attention as Angelo threw another grenade onto the bed of the truck.
My eyes dart towards Luca's car and I see that he and Angelo stopped. They're watching us and waiting for us to blow up. I slam my hand on the top of the truck as I scream once more. "Ricky! Two grenades! Get the hell out!"
A loud engine catches my attention as a truck speeds besides us. Looking over to my left, my eyes recognize the red Ford truck. Amanda sticks her head out the window and waves us over. "Jump in!"
Our truck begins to lose control as I watch Ricky jumping out of the back seat which happens to be the only place where the door is completely gone. He lands onto the side of Keith's truck and slithers into the window. Looking back at the girls, they remain frozen as they gaze down at the two ticking time bombs. We have thirty seconds before we explode.
"Here." I say grabbing the crossbow and baseball bat, shoving it into Isabella's arms. "Now jump!"
"No, Fionia! Not without you!" Sarah cries.
"N—"
"No Nia! You're coming!" Isabella says handing Sarah my baseball bat.
"Guys—"
"No!" Sarah begs. "Plea—" I cut her off by grabbing her waist and throwing her onto the back of the truck. A screech leaves her lips as she lands.
"Fi—" Before Isabella could finish that sentence, I grab her by the waist and throw her onto the back of the truck.
"Come on Nia! You too!" Keith calls.
"No! Get out o—" Everything stops. The sound of the of the first grenade catches me off guard. The orange-red colour is all I see. As I feel my body heat up.
"Fionia!" Gianluca yells, as I can hear the crack in his voice. Another loud bang rings through the night as I feel my body flying in the air. Everything feels numb as my vision blurred and the only thing I could feel is the cool night air brushing past my cheeks.
Everything happens in slow motion as the fire of the truck comes into view before my body hits the hard ground that's composed of the soft grass under me. I watch as my truck flips over multiple times before it stops and completely explodes. The loud boom is heard throughout the quiet metropolitan and the sound of shattering glass causes me to close my eyes.
Opening my eyes slightly, I blink a couple of times to get ride of the blurriness. The truck I once stood on lays on its hood as fire comes roaring out of the engine and tires. Gasoline from the broken up truck spirals across the road and the sudden sound of footsteps causes my heart to stop. The person walks towards me as it caresses my face. Everything is still blurry but I could recognize his chocolate brown eyes from anywhere.
Gianluca sobs over my limb body as he tries to call my name but his calls are quickly blocked out by a buzzing noise. The feeling of my ears closing up, makes the irritating bee buzzing grow louder. I want to reach up and touch him but I can feel my arms or legs. I can't feel a single bone in my body. It's as if my eyes are the only thing functioning right now but even at that they begin to droop.
Gianluca is quickly pushed out of the way by another man—and that man being Ricky. Words are being exchanged between the two all while another person kneels before me. Blinking a little more, I could recognize his curly blonde hair and I immediately know its Keith as he picks me up in his arms. He doesn't want to make the situation worse as I stare up at him while he begins to speak to me. All words I can not hear but I know they are reassuring.
Keith jumps into the back of the truck with me still in his arms as my eyes slowly close. He tries to catch my attention but for some reason, my neck turns towards Angelo's car. I spot Luca being pushed into his fathers care by Massimo and another man. I could practically see the tears rushing down his face as his car speeds away. They think I'm dead. That's why they're leaving. At least I said I loved him in the letter I wrote.
Keith gently grabs my face and turns it towards him while his lips move in a quick matter. My eyes continue to droop as I feel my body being lifted again and placed onto soft cushions. A gas mask comes to contact with my skin as I breath in its air.
My eyes continue to close. Slowly but surly, I go off into the bright white light while people shout from left to right.
