Yuri's POV
I hate this.
I hate waking up so early.
I hate these woods.
I hate my job.
I hate my life.
...
UUCCCHHHHHHH!
I walk through the dark woods with my Uncle Celestino a few paces behind me, guns blazing. Now most normal people who go hunting would usually hunt for normal things like small bunnies or deer. But not my family, no no, we hunt for something much more dangerous. I'm not talking about lions and tigers and bears, oh my. No, we hunt for vampires. Yes, you read this correctly. Vampires. Because apparently those bastards are real and will come to suck your blood if you decide to walk home alone from the bar late at night, stumbling around in your 4-inch heels. Try as you might get away from drunk men trying to get into your pants... that is until you find your self-cornered in an alleyway. Well... excepted for one vampire.
My hunting job was not something I decided, it was bestowed upon me. The ways of vampire hinting is passed down from generation to generation. I was taught to hunt at a young age, my uncle says I'm one of the best vampire hunter he's ever seen. And that's saying something because there are hundreds of amazing vampire hunters out there. Anyway, tonight i have to be extra carful because my love Viktor is hunting with us. It's his first time hunting although he's been training for quite some time. I don't want him to go hunting but my parents said: "If he's going to join this family, he's going to join the hunt." I wasn't very excited about that, I even tried to make up excuses for him not to be trained like 'he's very lazy' or 'he'll be killed in a matter of minutes', but none worked. I'm really scared for him, I don't know what I would do if anything happened to him. So many things would be different, I would never see those puppy dog eyes whenever he wants something, or he wouldn't crawl into my bed at night during thunderstorms because he knows I'm terrified of them.
"Here Vik-chan." The little pooch turned around to look at me and bounded over to my side as I rubbed behind his ear.
"Awww that's so cute." A voice said. I went on high alert. Vik-chan did as well, growling.
"Who's there? show yourself, you coward." I raised my gun to my face, ready to shoot if needed. That's when a tall man with back hair and an undercut dropped from the closest tree. Blue eyes turning red, blazing as he stands straight.
"Me? A coward? JJ is never a coward. But one thing I am is curious. A human with a vampire mate mark?" He chuckled as he took a few steps forward. What mark?
"Stay back, I'll shoot," I warned.
"Haha silly human, normal bullets can't harm me." he was a foot away from me.
"Good thing I don't have normal bullets on me." His face changed to alarm before I shot my gun, I didn't kill him, I shot him in the shoulder. He screamed in agony and gripped his shoulder as his skin hissed from the silver bullet now lodge into his arm. I started to run back to base along with Vik-chan, the Vampire was left behind. Well, I thought he was. He managed to catch up to me with his vamp speed.
"Where do you think you're going?" Oh crap. What am I gonna do? But Vik-chan was way ahead of me. He decided now what the right time to chomp down on the vampire's leg. Once again the vampire started to scream.
"That hurts! How does it hurt?! Dog bights don't hurt!!!" The vampire started ranting.
"Well, you see Mr. Vampire. We-"
"My name is Jean Jacques. Use it." He glared at me through the pain, Vik-chan won't let go.
"Well then... JJ. We swapped all of Vik-chan's K9's for pure silver fangs." I smirked.
"Well isn't that nice." He reached down and grabbed Vik-chan but his scruff. Vik-chan wined and let JJ's leg go. JJ lifted him off the floor and had him face me, grabbing his paw and making it wave to me. "Say bye-bye Vik-chan." My eyes widen. No. JJ smiled evilly and ran away with Vik-chan still in his arms.
"No!" I ran after him but I know it was no use, Vampire speed was something a human could ever outrun. Tears flooded my eyes and cascaded down my cheeks. Vic-chan was gone. My one and only friend, gone. I screamed and cried my heart out. My uncle found my kneeling on the floor. I don't remember much after that but I somehow managed to get to my house and not bed, crying myself to sleep.
