Chapter 6: The Lair

After leaving Midwich Elementary School, I made my way back to the apartments.

Upon arrival, I entered the apartment, only to not sense Hecate's presence anywhere inside either of the rooms.

Of course, she did not obey me.

A growl erupts from my throat as then I head out in search for her.

Hecate's POV

"DREW!" My voice screams out, my voice bouncing off the decaying buildings all around as I search for my brother through the empty streets.

"DREW! Please answer me! It's Hecate!"

Once again, no response from any living or undead creature as I begin to lose all hope after searching for half an hour.

Hearing some strange noises in an alley nearby, I hesitantly investigate the source of the noise, slowly I step into it.

Fear engulfs me as I take in the sources of the sounds. A gigantic creature about the size of a car with gigantic legs, arms on its head and two feminine legs resting upon its back appears to be fighting another creature. The other creature is on all fours and has blades for arms and legs, the area its head would be upon its torso is completely missing a head, but instead the head is located between its legs.

The two halt their attacks against one another as they seem to have noticed me, shifting their attention onto me despite having been silent.

Yep. I'm fucked now...

The thing with blades for legs darts at me with shocking speed. I scream out and run as fast as I possibly can to a building across from the alley. Just as my fingers barely make contact with the door, the creature grabs me by my ankle with two legs, yanking me away to slam down onto the ground. Screaming out in horror, it begins dragging me further away from the door.

My eyes widen in fear as I hear heavy booms against the ground as the giant creature closes in on the bladed monster and I.

The bladed creature is forced to release me as I feel force shove it away from me. Shifting quickly onto my back, I watch as the bladed creature attacks the giant one once again. They both begin fighting again, but this time, over me.

Slowly I crawl away while they are distracted and attempt to open the door to the building. Relief overcomes me, the door surprisingly had been unlocked. Sliding into the building, I pull the door shut, thankful that they have yet to realize I had slipped away from them.

Just as a wave of relief hits me, two giant, long blades stab through the wooden door. Screaming out, I Immediately run away from the door in search of a weapon while the monsters begin destroying the door.

Reaching the second floor, I quickly enter a room down the hall from the stairs I had just ascended. Slamming the door shut, it seems as though the room had previously operated as an office. Making haste, I slip into the only possible place in an effort to hide, beneath the desk.

Listening in silence, I hear nothing except my own heightened breathing. Moving a hand to my mouth, I attempt to keep myself quieter.

Looking around at what I can see on the floor, a lot of dust and debris remain from the place having been abandoned so long ago.
