Stray cats have a tendency of following people around when they want something, so when a pretty bird named Y/N flies into Lorenzo's life, he can't help but jump at the chance to use her. What he doesn't realize is that she knows how to play his gam...

I give a quiet moan of resistance as I awaken and breathe a deep sigh as I cuddle more into the blanket draped over me. It's just one of those days, you know; the kind where getting out of bed is out of the question. The weather outside is all wet and depressing, making your entire being feel lethargic. Sadly, as determined as I was not to move, my side began to ache, so I slowly turn over. I, then, shift to find a good, comfy spot, but unfortunately, it could not be found. Frustrated, I open my eyes only to be surprised by the fact that I am not alone. Right in front of me lies the cat man's chest, so I flick my eyes up to gaze at his face, finding him in a peaceful rest. We were in no way touching, but I was still close enough that I could feel the heat radiating off his body.
'Wasn't I on the couch?' A smile twitched at the corners of my lips as I stifle a laugh when I realized he brought me in here.
'SomuchforMr. Toughguy, huh?' Unbothered and fully awake now, I force myself up and out of bed, being extra quiet, as to not wake the sleeping beasts overrunning my room. The first thing I do is check outside the window and noticed two things: the good news is: it stopped raining; the bad news is: it's now snowing. Well, at least, it's only a small flurry right now, but it seems like it was heavier than a few snowflakes at some point last night. The roads will be icy for sure.
'I knew it had gotten colder, but isn't it a bit too early for snow?' I sigh, realizing that Lorenzo and his feline friends might end up having to stay here longer because of this, or perhaps not. He did seem rather antsy to leave. I peer over to the brunette, noting how quiet he is in his sleep. If only he were so silent when awake, we might actually get along great. I breathe out a laugh at my thought and shake my head before frowning slightly when I examine his attire. I've never seen him dressed in anything else, and knowing how stubborn he is, I have a feeling he wouldn't care about walking out in the snow like this just to be out of the house. Honestly, how has this man survived this long? He's absolutely pitiful. I have a look at the time, and it seems to be kinda early. He'll probably sleep in at least an hour longer, maybe more if he wakes up as groggy as I had.
Gaining an idea, I pull out some clothes from my drawers before slipping out to get dressed in the bathroom.
Y/N's errand went by quickly; in fact, Lorenzo was still in bed when she returned home, though the cats were mostly awake and whining for food. She did what she could to satisfy their hunger with whatever she could find lying around; meanwhile, the moody man finally got himself out of bed and made his way straight to the door.
"You're going already?" she asks from behind, not entirely surprised to catch him leaving first thing. Her question made him pause and huff as he looks back at her from over his shoulder in annoyance.
"It stopped raining, didn't it?" Lorenzo set a hand on the doorknob, itching to get out of this place and back to the streets, where he felt at home. His freedom was calling to him and he wasn't going to let a little cold snow stop him. Y/N watches him with disappointment, knowing she had no say on his decision to go. She may not like him much, but she isn't that heartless to throw someone out in the snow, especially knowing they have no place to live. What could she do, though? It's not like she can force him to stay.
"Hold your horses. You can go if you want, but wait just a second, all right?" The man gives an infuriated growl, his fingers twitching on the doorknob as the woman walks away, but his frustration turns to confusion upon seeing her return with a large bag. He didn't know how to react when she held it out to him either. "Take these." Eyeing her with suspicion, Lorenzo snatched the bag roughly from her hand before peeking inside it. Slightly, his mouth opened. "I'm not going to stop you from leaving, but you should at least wear something warm out there, so I went to the shop this morning. I also stopped by the pet store to pick up some catnip. You guys like that stuff, right?" He had no words to give her as he stared into the bag, but it only took him a moment to snap out of his trance.
"I don't need your charity." Regardless of his claim, he pulls the black, winter jacket out of the bag and shoves it on, followed by red gloves and a matching scarf. The fabrics were warm on his skin and provided much more comfort than his worn, old clothes, not that he'd mention this aloud. He didn't have to, though because, for a mere moment, she caught a glimpse of his true emotions as they crossed his face before they disappeared behind a mask of stoicalness. Slightly, she smiles. "I know you don't like being indoors, but as long as you behave while you're here, I'll give you shelter if you ever need it, okay?"
"Fine," was his only response to the incredibly kind offer, seeming uninterested, before he walked out the door with his army of cats following right after. The felines carry on their way, but Lorenzo stops to look back at the girl, who stands in the doorway to watch him go. Gnawing softly on his bottom lip, he hesitates to say anything more, but eventually caves. "See you around, little birdie." With that, he turns away, and Y/N shakes her head before closing the door. It's just her and Ginger again, now. She smiles victoriously as she makes her way over to the couch, knowing she was making a breakthrough with him, even if only a little. Lorenzo is incredibly stubborn, but so is she, and she can easily brush off that rude attitude of his.
"What a night, eh, Ginger?" She says to the feline as the cat joins her on the couch while she surfs channels. For a moment, she checks out the weather channel to see how long the snowfall will last only to find that it will show no sign of stopping until at least eight at night, and that's not even counting the predictions of the week, which will be much worse. The woman sighs at this, feeling a bad pit form in her stomach, knowing he is going to be out there for it all. The rain is one thing, but the snow is far worse.
