Stray cats have a tendency of following people around when they want something, so when a pretty bird named Y/N flies into Lorenzo's life, he can't help but jump at the chance to use her. What he doesn't realize is that she knows how to play his gam...

The coming weeks were filled with more visits from the stray cat-man, whom Y/N had once thought of as a burden, and since admitting his past to her, she had noticed quite a shift in his behavior. He was acting nicer, less crude, and though he'd sometimes still make stubborn remarks, he was less likely to pick fights or shove her around. Obviously, he still didn't take kindly to any touching or affections from her, so she was sure to kept herself from doing anything of the sort. It led to a more comfortable existence with him.
Lorenzo's ideal pastime during his stays always ended up being food-related, and often, he'd just be lounging around the house with a few felines thrown into the mix, of course. Her bank account was screaming at the amount of meals she had to buy, but if it made him happy and comfortable, so be it. She didn't mind as much anymore. Besides, she'd rather he be eating good food, rather than something out of the trash. In other instances, she would end up passing him on the street near the usual alleyways, and if he ever spotted her, she noticed he had a habit of following behind her. Most often, they didn't say anything worth noting besides a few, 'how've you been's and 'hello's . He's been more reserved lately, so she tried her best not to pry, knowing that he wouldn't like that. She assumed it was because he was still unsure about trusting her yet, so she'd give him however long it takes to adjust.
Currently she was alone, walking with Ginger after a stop at the pet store to refill the goods that have been devoured by Lorenzo's ravenous gang of cats. She carried the items in a plain white tote over her shoulder and shivered a bit from the weather. Thankfully, it had not snowed again, but it was still chilly out. She hoped Lorenzo was keeping warm. The woman gave pause when the cat in front of her suddenly stopped and perked her head, looking around with twisting ears.
"Ginger, you okay?" The hair on the feline's back rose as her tail twitched before the she darted off at full-speed ahead. Y/N was surprised but chased after her, turning a couple corners before discovering the trouble that had alerted her. Ginger hissed at a pair of older teens, who appeared to have cornered another cat with a freshly damaged eye. They didn't notice her or Y/N as they messed with the poor creature even as it swatted at them and growled.
"Hey! What the fuck do you think you're doing with that poor thing?!" The two turned towards the woman in surprise as she gave them a hard stare and tightly gripped the strap of her bag. "You think you're tough shit beating an animal like that?"
"Hey, this fucker tripped me and almost smashed my nose against the pavement. Mind your own fucking business, bitch."
