Chapter Twenty

I was at it for a long time. I'd lost the count of the rounds, but I was actually getting a little tired. I did a handstand over something and let myself fall on a big mattress. Ah ... A small rest ... I closed my eyes. "You're great." I quickly opened my eyes, jumping up. Zane pushed me back down holding my wrists firmly next to my head. "Z-Zane-kun ..." I chuckled. "Hey." I averted my eyes to the side. "G-get off ..." "No." I quickly turned back. "H-huh?! Wha-why?!" He looked serious. My cheeks reddened. "Z-Za--." "What is up with Will and you." Huh? I sighed. "Nothing." His grasp got firmer. "P-please ... Nothing happened. After yesterday I just ran into him after school wh-!" Now his grasp was starting to hurt and I closed my eyes hard, trying to evade the pain. "I just saw him and left home!" I opened my eyes and looked into his. His eyes looked filled with anger. I gave him a desperate and sad look. "Let me go ... Please ..." I whispered. "No." Now I was hurt. My hands were starting to lose sense. A tear came out. His eyes weren't the same. He wasn't the same. I put all my strength in trying to escape, but it didn't work. My arms were tired. It seemed he noticed my attempt and now actually looked at me. He let go and I quickly backed up a few meters, stroking my reddish wrists. He looked a little lost and shocked. I took my chance and ran away, not caring about the class anymore.

I went to the halls and broke out in tears. I noticed someone walking through the hallway and looked at who it was. Jace ...? I looked again. "Jace!" I ran as fast as I could to him and hugged him tight. "J-Jace ...!" I started crying much harder now and he stroked my head. "Shhh ..." He didn't understand much, but we had become good friends, so he didn't really mind. I heard footsteps and quickly looked up. Zane was standing in the hallway. I quickly hid behind Jace. He understood and looked at him. "Go away. She doesn't want to see you right now." Zane looked angry, but turned away without complaint. Jace turned himself back to me and opened his arms. "Just tell me what happened later okay?" I nodded and jumped in his arms, not really noticing Zane looking. I kept bawling my eyes out, until I finally managed to calm down and tell Jace what had happened.

Jace sighed. "He's jealous ..." I raised my eyebrow slightly. "W-what?" He shook his head with a hand on his face. "Yeah ... From what I heard, he's jealous of this 'Will' guy. He'll calm down and talk to you about it, but I'd suggest to avoid him for now, since you don't know if he's gonna do anything or not. Also, keep your friend with you, being with another person seems safer. If she can't accompany you, come to my class and I'll stick with you, okay? I'll stay with you during the club activities today too." I smiled faintly. "Thanks Jace ... I'll get going now ... It's already the next period and I still need to change ..." My eyes were red swollen and I was still trembling. Jace gave me a hug and patted my head. "Just go to the nurse's office. I'll pick you up after the period, to spend lunch with you. Okay?" I smiled. "Okay! See you Jace!" I walked off and we waved, until we couldn't see each other anymore. I was very carful going to the locker room, but I saw no one. The room was silent. I quickly changed, took my bag and went to the nurse's office. When I went in, the nurse looked at me. "Yes? What is--? Oh ... You can take the last bed." She must've seen my eyes ... "Thank you." I walked over and laid myself down. I want to rest ... And fell asleep.

"--ra? --yra? Lyra? Hello?" "Hggnnn~~!" I pulled my body today and my hands to my cheeks. "Heh." "Hgn~?" I slightly opened my eyes. Jace was standing there smiling and chuckling. "Morning sleepyhead, ready to go?" I flickered my eyes a few times. "Waah?" He laughed. "Haha! Come on, it's lunch." Now I actually opened my eyes and jumped up. "What?!" He chuckled. "Yes. Come on let's go." I got up and took my bag. "Wait ..." He fixed my hair and I smiled. "Thanks!" We walked on, until the nurse looked at me. "If you get the same thing again, don't worry, just come back love. I see you're a great person. Come back anytime for a chat!" My eyes sparkled. "Thank you so much!" We walked on, until I stopped. "T-t-turn ..." Jace also saw Zane. He quickly took my hand and ran in the opposite direction. After a minute we stopped. "Let's go to the rooftop." I nodded. Arriving, we sat down and ate our lunch. He cheered me up and talked about some stuff, until lunchtime was over. "Jace? I don't want to go ..." He smiled. "I'll bring you to the nurse's office, let's go." He dropped me off and I waved him bye.

"Nice boyfriend." I looked at the nurse, she was smirking at me. "B-boyfriend?! Oh no, you got it wrong!" I chuckled. "He's like a brother! I live with his family for the time being and we're good friends. He's helping me." The nurse lightly slapped her own cheek and sighed smiling. "Ahh! Sorry, you looked good together though! I mean, also as friends." She winked and I smiled. "I'm Jess, by the way! But ... Wanna sit down and talk?" She looked at me worried. I took a deep breath, but sat down. "Yeah ..." She rubbed my arm in comfort and I smiled. I exhaled and took a second. "So there's this guy, let's call him Steve. He's really nice and maybe cute or whatever, but today he ... H-he ..."
