It was the end of school and I was walking to the teacher's office. I knocked on the door. "Excuse me, is Mr. Fersal here?" A teacher waved to my teacher and he came to me. "This is my final project, Sir." I handed him a memory stick. "Thank you Lyra. I'll give it back next Monday. I also talked with the principal. You can stay at home. I'll e-mail you the assignments and you'll just have to be there on the day they are due." I nodded. "Thank you, Sir, see you on Monday." I walked away, to Macy. "So you're really done?" She asked me excited. I smiled. "Yup. I can stay home now, but we'll Skype as always!" She first whined, but then hugged me. "Yeah!" Macy was very cheerful and always full of energy and we talked every day. She was my best friend and I hers. Even though we didn't know each other's username to play with each other, we played with our smurf accounts together. "Well, I have to go home now, Macy. I wouldn't want to miss my train and wait another few hours." She smiled, sadly. "Yeah..." We could never see each other outside school. We Skyped every day, but she and I both knew, we just really wanted to hang out, but we couldn't. I said goodbye and so did she. We waved each other out and I ran to the train station. Arriving, I had to wait a few minutes and then got on.
When I got home, I unlocked the door. "I'm home!" No response. "Hello? Anyone home?" I opened the door to the living room and saw my dad sitting at the table. "Dad?" He looked at me. "Welcome home. Your sister's train is delayed and will be home later. Mom's still working and your brother is, still at school as always." My dad was strict. He was nice and all, but just strict. Though it did worry me that he kept staring at me. "Is something wrong, dad?" He sighed. "I got a letter from Japan. They are asking you to go there for half a year. You will study and work there. Your work will be playing the first Augma." My eyes widened. "You are the best in a popular MMORPG and the Augma will make you play something like that. That's why they've asked you. You can choose on your own. Here's is the letter." He handed me an envelope. "Read it and let me know." I nodded and began to walk back. "Oh dad. I've already handed in my final project. I don't have to go to school, only for the days when an assignment is due." He didn't respond, but I knew he heard me, so I walked up the stairs to my room.
I jumped on my bed and opened the letter...
Dear miss Lyra Agnia
We are the VR Incorporation. We have created the first Augma. In short, you can see other things. It can manipulate what you see. We have made a ARMMO. Since you are the best player in our MMORPG, we would like you to come and try the Augma. You will come to Japan and stay here for 6 months. When you have the Augma on, you are still yourself, so we will have you train. The ARMMO will have you working out, since you have to fight monsters. You'll have to move around. Like we said, you are still you.
When you come to Japan, you will go to school here. We'll make sure everything is set up for you. A host family will take care of you too. You will, on the other hand, have to come to us every day to train.
To make it worth your time, you will get the Augma. You will also get another one, but we suggest you keep it in the meantime. We can always change the amount, seeing how good the Augma is now. That and the costs in Japan will all be taken care of by us. That should make up for the work you do, but we can discuss that matter another time.
We do warn you, that you are the first one to try the Augma. We have run tests and then everything will be perfectly fine. It is also safe and normally nothing should be wrong and it should be working perfectly fine, but we are never sure, before it is tested by you.
No one should know, except your family. If you decide to give your Augma to someone, that person can show other people, but he or she can't tell anyone that he or she got it from you. Your identity must be hidden, since you have insight in our company.
