"Hi, Jade. Try not to lose him." I smile at the fake blonde and Calum huffs.

"I'm not a dog, Mali."

I laugh at the siblings by my car window and open the door for Calum.

"I always treat him right." Mali nods and pats her brother on the shoulder before going inside the house again.

"Ugh, she's annoying." Calum groans while putting his seatbelt on and I start off the car.

"I love her." He rolls his eyes at my answer and I smile.

Since I had nothing to do today, more like I didn't felt like doing anything, I decided to call Calum so we could hangout. Friends usually do that.

I gaze at his black skinny jeans and his black Nirvana sweatshirt. His style amazes me. I really love black. But I was never that cool to be an emo kid, so it didn't work out for me. Believe me I've tried. But after I got bangs for the first time I immediately regreted it.

"We're here." I get out of the car, after I park. I go around the car, but he was already outside. I still never know what he can or not do alone.

"I love the smell of just cut grass." I hold his hand and I frown my nose.

"Ew, that's fucking weird." He chuckles at my statement.

"So what park is this exactly?"

"The park near Mali's house. She said you used to come here as kids. I used to love it here. Ash and I used to come here as children as well."

He seems to be thinking and then he nods. "Is that the park with a weird ass statue in the middle?"

"Oh my god, yes. Ashton calls it the dick statue."

Calum chuckles and I find my usual spot.

"So why did you stop coming here?"

I almost choke on my saliva as I put my bag down.

"Hum... We just grew out of the habit, I guess."

Thank god, he seems to take this answer.

After a while of talking and eating some cookies I had smartily forgot I had with me, we somehow ended talking about stupid things we had said to someone we liked before.

"So I turned to him and I blurted 'If you were a steak you'd be well done'. I didn't even know what that was supposed to mean!" I tell him about my middle school crush and Calum starts laughing again. For a moment I think I broke him.

I take this moment to smile at him fondly. What am I doing?

"You're right, that's awful. I have a better one."

"Nothing can be worse than that, Calum."

He blindly looks for me before resting his hand on my hip.

"I know you're busy today, but can you add me to your to-do list?"

It's my turn to laugh and I have to hold on to the floor so I don't roll down the hill.

My hysterical laugh echoes between the trees and I see him smiling and biting his lip.

"Okay, how about this? My lips are like skittles. Wanna taste the rainbow?"

"I can't believe you said that to someone." He shakes his head in amusement and I shrug.

"I thought we had already come to the conclusion I'm a lost cause. It didn't work obviously. And I wonder why people think I'm weird."
