"You threw a coconut at my head!" Luke exclaimed and everyone at the table laughed.
I cross my legs in the chair, something everyone finds weird but I'd rather call it comfortable.
"You told me onions were the only food that could make you cry! Of course I threw a coconut at your head. And then I had to pay for it. Stupid old lady that turned me in. At least you did cry." I say proudly.
"It was one manly tear, Jade! Will you ever let that go?"
"You guys are crazy." Calum interrupts and my dear cousin is the fastest to agree.
"Shut up, Ashton. We're not the only ones that make fools of ourselves at the groceries store." I put my hand on the table to look manly and Luke nods in agreement.
"Except that you are. You make a fool of yourself everywhere, literally." Michael says and I get up, starting to feel slightly annoyed.
"I know that, you dick, no need to point it out."
Michael was about to make another probably offensive remark but Calum gets up as well changing our attention to him.
"Will you take me home now, please? My sister wants me there soon, I need to help her with some stuff."
The look on his face doesn't show annoyance or anything, as always he's just being nice.
I ignore the three boys giving me curious looks and suggestive smirks and take Calum towards the door.
"Anytime you need me to take you out of a stressful situation, I'll be there." he says when we get to the street.
A light breeze makes me shiver and I curse myself for not bringing a jacket.
"It wasn't a stressful situation, smartass."
I intertwine my arm with his, something I don't know if it's necessary. Still he doesn't do anything to change it.
"I could sense it in your tone, Jade."
"You're quite something, Calum. Sense what I'm feeling now then."
We get to the spot where Ashton's car, that I drive more than he does, is and I stop walking. None of us moves towards the car, though.
"In this precise moment I think you're nervous because you're about to be alone with me in a car." His tone and his smile give away that he's joking and I gasp.
"Wow, you're so good at this! How did you get such an accurate representation?" I answer, my voice full of sarcasm which makes him laugh.
"I can do better than that. I also know you are cold because I can feel your chicken skin. And I can tell you're upset about the things they say."
I divert my gaze to the floor, even though he can't see me.
"I don't get sad because of it. They are just joking around. It surprises me Ashton finally found a decent friend." I try to turn the conversation around. He can tell what I'm feeling and I need to decide if I find that comforting or fucking creepy.
"Come on, get in the car." I open the door for him and show him where it is. He drops the subject and I get to the driver's door.
"You know, I also have an embarassing supermarket story if you want to hear it."
