I sharpen my pencil, trying to give a different shade to her hair.

Fucking eyes, so hard to get right.

This girl is turning out more difficult to draw than I thought it would.

Ashton bursts into the room, as usual, without knocking, and hands me his phone.

"What the fuck do you want?" I ask trying to shoo him out.

"It's for you." He puts his phone in my hand and pats it carefully before getting out of my room.

What?

I look at the screen where 'Calum' is visible, in a current call. Oh.

"Hey?"

"What the fuck do you want?" he mocks me with a girly voice and I roll my eyes.

"Shut up, I don't talk like that."

I blow some hair out of my face and start doodling in the corner of my paper, like I always end up doing.

"You know, I just realized the other day you didn't give me your number."

"Well, you didn't ask for it." I shrug, hiding a smile.

"Yeah, I was playing hard to get." He laughs at himself and I shake my head in amusement.

"So, I've been wondering why you didn't tell me you didn't go to my school."

"You didn't ask, Calum."

"Jade, do you have any idea how embarrassing it is to have to ask to your cousin what class were you in, just to have him mocking me?"

"I know, right? He's a total jerk!" I squeal, half joking. He chuckles lightly on the other side.

"Why didn't you just ask him for my number?"

"I wouldn't be able to see it. That's why I called him."

I rest my legs on the table and push my work aside.

"Can I ask you something that might sound slightly bad?"

"Depends. What is the question?"

Okay, I've been wondering about this since I first met him. It still sounds wrong and disrespectful enough.

Have you always been blind? - Should have come out of my mouth but the only thing that does is:

"Huh,  what are you wearing?"

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE LEFT HEMISPHERE OF YOUR BRAIN, JADE EMILY IRWIN?

I bang my head against the desk, dropping my cup of pencils and Ash's phone to the floor.

UGH, FUCK MY LIFE.

"Jade?" He asks when I pick up the phone.

"Sorry, the phone slipped."

"Well, that sure was an unusual thud for just a phone but okay."

Out the corner of my eye I catch sight of Ash, laying in my bed, eyeing me mischievously like he is enjoying the scene.

How did I not notice him just standing there?

"Calum, I'll call you right back."

"What is your problem, cousin?" Ashton asks me smirking and I just wanna throw myself out of the window.

"What the fuck are you still doing here? Get out!" I yell, throwing my blending stump at his head and he gets out laughing. Hard.

I bury my head into my hands and I throw myself in the floor. I know my cheeks are bright red and right now there's not much I can do about it. This will always be remembered as my most awkward moment Ashton has witnessed and there's no way he's going to let this go. In fact, he probably already told his 2 stupid friends. And they're going to make fun of me forever.
