Dan's POV

Eliza's cackle hung in the air for a moment. I waited for her to say something. A "fuck off" or a "that's sweet", I don't know, anything was better than this silence.

Her eyes suddenly widened and she jumped up and walked over to the car park. "Fuck, Dan. The bus is gone. They've fucking left us." She shouted. I laughed as I jogged over to her. "Why are you fucking laughing? This isn't funny! I'm stuck on a beach with no phone signal. I don't know where I am, I am cold, and I don't know how to get back to the hotel." I stopped laughing, but couldn't stop the smirk crawling across my face.

"Calm down, Eliza. They probably did this on purpose! They'll be back to get us soon." She suddenly froze and stared right through me. "What?"

Her voice was quiet and shaky. "You called me Eliza. You never call me Eliza."

I chuckled. "That's your name, isn't it?"

"Yes, but you either call me "Doolittle" or "Elizabeth". Never Eliza." She told me. I stuttered.

"Well, you see, I was.. Urm.. You needed calming down. Yeah, yeah... You needed calming down and I... Urrr... I thought using your actual name would... Urm... Bring you comfort...?" I frowned at my shoes as the words cautiously stepped out of my mouth.

She looked up at me, squinting and I saw the tiniest smile grow across her face. She suddenly looked down at the sand, embarrassed. I looked at her and whispered: "We're going to be alright," I paused and swallowed, "Eliza." I put my fingers under her chin and lifted her head up so she could study my face. She found my eyes, and I found hers. She fell into mine, and I searched my way around hers. She was drowning in the chocolate of mine and I was swimming in the water of hers. It felt like I had found the door to her thoughts and she was slowly opening the door, and letting me in.

My fingers gently swept from under her chin to her right cheek. I could feel her eyes searching me for answers which I couldn't give her, because I didn't know the questions. She closed her eyes and sighed. I took one last good look at her and then brought my free hand up and tangled it in her hair. I pushed her slowly towards me, and we kissed. Our lips collided. Just at that moment, we heard a loud horn from a bus and we both broke apart immediately. Our backs towards each other.

I coughed a couple of times and the horn went off again. I heard Eliza's feet crawling through the sand as she made her way towards the bus. I looked down at my shoes and sighed. I thought about what had just happened and smiled, then that smile turned into a quiet laugh. I scratched my neck and smiled at my shoes again. The bus horn went off one last time and I got the message.

I walked over to it and climbed inside. As soon as my head popped up in the bus there was an eruption of wolf whistles and "get in there"'s. I laughed awkwardly as Phil shouted from the back of the bus: "We weren't interrupting anything, were we Dan?" Everyone laughed and started shouting "ayyy" and "good on you", some of Phil's friends and his brother patted me on the back and shoulder as I walked past.

I got to the back of the bus where I found two lots of two seats. Eliza was sat on one of them with a spare seat next to her. She was looking out the window and she looked, sort of, sad. I hesitated, before deciding on sitting on the empty two seats.

"It was only one kiss. Probably doesn't mean anything." One of my thoughts announced "You need to give her space." Said another. "It would be so awkward if you sat next to her." another thought whispered. So I put in my headphones and mirrored Eliza by looking out the window. I quickly glanced in her direction, expecting to see some sort of snigger at me for mirroring her, but, it seemed, that she hadn't even noticed I was there.
