"Hey!" Yuqi said happily, passing by me.
"Hey", I said, sighing. I didn't know how Yuqi could still be nice to me after her best friend was heartbroken by a boy who liked me. Or, who I thought liked me till he sent me that stupid note.
"So, the girls and I are organizing Minnie a surprise party for her birthday", Yuqi began. "Tomorrow, right after school is over, at her house. Wanna come?"
I sighed. I've been so caught up in my work and... you know, Jungkook problems - that I've completely forgotten about Minnie's birthday tomorrow. I obviously was going to go, even if I was embarrassed to look everyone in the eye after Jungkook had rejected me when I had my hopes up.
Right then, a thought hit me.
You cannot live the rest of your life isolating yourself from everyone just because of a fucker like Jungkook. What happened happened, and it passed now. Head up, Lisa.
I turned around to face Yuqi.
"Of course I will come", I said, smiling confidently.
"Great!" she said, jumping with excitement. "Almost everyone I invited is coming. Oh, how Minnie will love it!"
She turned around, preparing to leave, when I called her.
"Hey, um- Yuqi."
"Yes?"
"What should I get her?"
"Hmmm." She rubbed her nape as she thought. "I don't really know. I'm personally making her something, since she has everything you can buy. You know she's very rich."
I nodded. All of us were part of wealthy families, but Minnie and (G)-Idle were all over the top. Minnie lived in a mansion, that is exactly why I'm assuming Yuqi had chosen to organize the party there and not in a restaurant or some public place. She is so rich that her parents even bought A BUFFET to put in her backyard at the party. Oh, how I wish it was the same for me, I sighed.
My parents were rich as well, but they never agreed with spoiling me. They never let me get any branded clothes or anything expensive - not that I asked for them, but if I did, they probably would have started a lecture about not mistaking the values of our family, and boring, mature stuff that I don't want to listen to.
Anyways, Minnie Nicha Yontararak, my best childhood friend, was turning 21 tomorrow and had no fucking idea what to get her as a gift.
Oof.
"I'm probably getting her something cool that she already owns, I guess", I said, and we both laughed.
"Well, good luck with her reaction", Yuqi smiled cutely.
I had been willing to ask her this question, but didn't know if it was right. Though I really wanted to know the answer, so I decided to leave the consequences aside and just speak my heart out. I took a deep breath, deep enough to know I wasn't going to choke.
"And one more thing, by the way", I began.
"Yes?" Yuqi replied, looking at me with wide eyes, similar to a deer's.
"Will Soyeon and Jungkook be there?"
Yuqi pouted and sighed, staring at the floor tiles.
"Yes. Yes, they will."
