I reached for the 3lbs chicken along with other ingredients: salt, pepper, tarragon, Rosemary, butter, and honey.

"So I got to hear you scream on my first day meeting you," said Archer who was boiling the carrots and vegetables.

I laughed. " That wasn't me. It was Ezekiel. Boy can he sound girlish." He chuckled. " Thinks for the heads up," he said to me while I was placing the chicken in a roasting pan after rubbing it with salt and pepper.

"How's the boiling going?," I say looking behind me. "It's going great so far, but i'm not guaranteeing anything." I smirked.

"I thought you said you could cook."

"I can."

"You sure?"

"I'm sure."

"You sure?"

"Yes I am."

"You sure?"

"Yes!"

"Yes what?"

"I'm sure."

"Sure of what?"

Again like last time, he slapped his forehead with the heel of his palm. "You sure are complicated," he said. "Thank you," I said back. I turned my head in his direction when he did the same. Mine was a quick glance, but his . . . His was lingering.

He looked at me in a strange way, the way I've seen my mother look at my father. "What?," I asked. "Nothing, I just . . . nothing."

He went back to his doing and started to cut the now boiled carrots and vegetables. I mixed the honey and the butter, brushing it on the chicken, and put it into the wood-burning stove. "You finished?" I nodded. "Yeah, but I'm going to make bread."

"How many?"

"What do you mean 'how many'?"

"Loafs of bread."

"Loafs of bread?"

"I'm not falling for that this time."

I laughed. "I thought you wouldn't. By how much I've met you I can tell that you're not the wild type. You're the serious type. You don't have fun all the time."

He scoffed sarcastically. "I can be fun."

"You sure? Or do you want me to ask Nico if that's true?"

"It is true!"

"No it's not."

"Yes it is!"

"No it's not!'

"Yes it is!"

I crossed my arms. "Prove it." He crossed his as well. "Ok then, I will."

"How are you going to do that?"

He grinned. "You'll see." I couldn't help but notice the shine in his eyes. "What are you up to?" He turned away, continuing to cut the veggies, and shrugged. He then left, leaving me alone in the kitchen with him being done with boiling the veggies.

I turned away hesitantly, not knowing if it was going to be good.

I combined the water, yeast, and honey, adding salt, eggs and shortening. I stirred it with flour and kneaded it for a while. I then placed it a wooden bowl covering it with a 'towel' watching as it rise under the heat. After waiting a long time, I put in on the table surface and kneaded it again. I placed it on the pan and let it rest for a little. I then put it back into the oven. It finished after what seemed like forever and I took it out.

It smells good, I thought.

I then felt eyes on me.

And then I heard the sound of claps
