🗡Archer's P.O.V🗡
I finally asked one of the questions I've always wanted to ask and it was to a complete stranger that I felt comfortable talking to.
"You sound like you need someone to talk to."
"Yeah, if only I had that someone," I responded.
She moved closer to me, faced me and said," Well, until you find that someone I'll be there for you whenever you need me."
She smiled and the dimple on her left cheek appeared.
"Even for a prince that's a stranger?"
"Even for a prince that's a stranger," she said reassuringly. I smiled back at her. "Off that topic for now, what are the villagers decorating for?" Her jaw dropped. "Do you'll not celebrate that at the castle?"
And then hit me.
"Oh, it's Spark's Day. I knew that."
She laughed. "Sure you did. Why'd you take so long to know?" I scratched the back of my head. "I don't know. I should though, because this is the one holiday I try to keep myself busy so I don't have to attend the nonsense at the palace."
"So you hate it too?"
"Yeah, you?"
"Always have and always will."
"No one to share it with?"
"You guessed it right"
"Same with me."
She pointed at the moon. "When the moon's full it'll be Flame's Day." I looked at the moon. "now that's actually a holiday I like. You?" She looked back at me. "Yeah, it's mine too." I nodded in agreement. "It's much more pretty and festive. I always look forward to the lanterns they lift in the sky."
"You watch those too?"
"Yeah. They're supposed to indicate of the lost princess's birthday. Do you know of the tale?" She nodded. "Yes, but only a little bit."
"The royal family of Melondia was murdered except for the prince and princess. The prince was found severely injured trying to get help at any village nearby. They got to the carriage where their favorite royal family was, only to not get there on time. Prince Alfred felt that something was wrong."
"His sister was missing from the carriage and the good Samaritans looked everywhere for her. Hours passed by and they still haven't found Princess Amabel. That's how they came up with the lanterns and the holiday. Sort of like Rapunzel. So far it's been fifteen years, sixteen on Flame's Day."
"That long?"
"Yep. Can you believe it's been that long?"
"No."
She looked weird, like if she were in deep thought. "Something wrong?" She shook out of it. "No." I looked at her. "You sure?" She nodded. "Yeah, I was just thinking of something."
"May I know what?"
"No you may not."
"Please?"
"No."
"Maybe, if you stop asking me."
I shut the zipper to my mouth and threw away the key. She chuckled. "You're weird." I grinned. "Told you could I be fun."
"That's not being fun."
"Yes it is."
"No, it isn't. You're just being funny not fun."
"Fine, you've got a point."
"Of course I do."
I smiled. Why does she have that effect on me? "Can thy spend Spark's Day with thee?" She looked at me carefully. She knocked her knuckle on my head. "You have a screw missing?" I shook my head.
"I'm being serious," I said while grabbing her hand.
"It's supposed to be a day for love."
"And relationships, but they didn't say what kind of relationship. We have a growing friendship relationship." She looked at me like I was crazy. "So, will thy spend Spark's Day with thee?"
She was in deep thought for a second.
"Maybe, I kinda always have something to do that day."
"With who?"
"Myself."
"Ha. Well this year is different because," I said entwining our hands together, "you'll find out what fun actually is." Very different from the ladies at court, her hand was rough and scratchy, yet still smooth. It was comfortable holding her hand and it fit perfectly into my hand.
"And you'll find out that I'm better alone on this particular holiday."
"Deal?"
"Deal."

Hoped you liked this chapter of this story and I hope I'm doing better. School's underway and I am so far not liking it. Seeing people that is uncomfortable being in the same room as, sucking at solving problems, and drifting apart from my friends. Hope you'll have better days than me.:)
