🍺Ezekiel's P.O.V🍺

"Have they gotten back, yet?"

"For the hundredth time, no. Is what you need to say so important?"

"Yes, and she needs to know my great news." I got a letter today from my uncle and it was so great that she needs to be the first to know. "Ezekiel! You come here this instant!"

Oh no, not my sister.

I started running from the bar and to the tree in the middle of the village. Sure it was a long way there, but I knew it would tire Angelica - my older sister - out.

After I passed the bakery and the blacksmith, sure enough, my sister had given up. Still, I continued walking, but not to the tree. I finally arrived and I climbed all the way to the top, knowing she would know I'm here.

I overslept way late, so I didn't go with the guys to their hunting trip. Normally Amabel would sleep late too, but I guess she was looking forward to this trip more than anything.

You see, her brother Noel fought in the army and was now home after 'retiring', so he could help out here. He's always welcome back anytime to fight in any battles as a commander only because he was the best anyone has ever seen.

Amabel got that from him. Her skills and intellectual mind.

That, and she also has some other strange and amazing talents she got from her other brother's. We've been friends for forever and we'll continue to be.

I heard horses and I sat up from the hay I was laying on. I saw two men in cloaks on the most beautiful Arabic horse I have ever seen. They look like they're headed to the center of town. I wondered when Amabel would get here. The good news I needed to say to her was coming all the way from the palace and even though Amabel had never dreamt - or wants - about going there, I knew she would be happy for the news I had.

My uncle - Lord Derek - was the coolest and not like the other Lords who are snobbish and mean and only care about the land and position they have.

Lord Derek visited the town sometimes, nowadays very rarely, and whenever he did, he always spent time with Amabel and I doing fun things you wouldn't think we would have at this time in history.

We played with these rifles that shot paint out instead of bullets in the woods and we made a game where you have a special candle in a cylinder object - you have to play in the dark - and if it shines on you, you're out. But we just say that's 'one' death. It's fun.

He always brings Ruffles, his golden retriever. He's only two years old and a fun dog to hang out with. I'm talking like he's an actual human.

While I'm off in my own world, I hear voices. "Yup, I know. Let's talk somewhere else, I'm afraid someone's going to hear us."

"Ok," said a female voice.

I look down and I see one of the men from the horse from earlier. I watch as he leads her by hand. They go into one of the inns almost secretly. Ewwww, what have I witnessed. What if they do it. I know he girl very well.

She's my sister.

I'm the only man in my family. My father died in one of the biggest wars we've had in centuries. He died a hero and I'm noticed as Miguel's son, recognized for the same characteristics as him. So now I'm left in charge of my mother and three sisters. Two older and one little. Amabel loves all three and so do they. That's one of the reasons they like that she hangs out with me.

She's basically the role model for everyone in the village and a celebrity. She'll sometimes greet visitors and hangs out with them. She's a 'people-person-kinda-person. That's why we all love her.

I suddenly hear footsteps accompanied by more and more. That's when I knew they were back. Once again, I sit up and look at my surroundings. Sure enough, I see them not far away from one of the inns. That's when I see her and her brother. She's carrying two deers and I know it must be a pain for her do to so - she loves animals -, but we've all got to eat and since the palace has cut down on our earnings we've got to go hunt.

I finally noticed that she only has two and I know she was probably talking to her brother most of the time they were there.

I get up and wave. She sees me right away and heads in my direction.

"Hey, Ezekiel," she smiles while she says that. She's close enough to where I can see her dimple. It's weird because she only has a dimple on her left cheek and not both, but it's cute. What are you thinking Ezekiel. She's your best friend.

"Looks like you got dinner."

"Yep, I know you didn't go because you overslept," she said smirking.

"You know me too well Amabel."

I finally updated this after a week. I'm sorry, I'll try to quick up my writing. I've been to focused on getting things for school. Starting in less than two weeks. I don't want to go back.😭😭😭. I guess it's back to cafeteria food. Well this is the longest chapter so far. I'll work on that too.
