My name is Ashley Gordon. I live in a little apartment with my boyfriend Calvin. I'm studying medicine in a glorious academy. Well, that's officially.
My name could also be Luisa or Valentine. I could also be CEO of a great technological company or housewife taking care of her only child.
I have no real name. My life is composed of fake identities.
I was born Patient 99 in a sanatorium. My mother was trapped in this place, so she gave me birth in it. She was mentally ill, she died two weeks later.
I've been from orphanages to orphanages. I grew up being Patient 99.
Some people gave me a name so they could refer to me as a human, not a number. I learned to change who I was when I was very young. I've been answering to a lot of names : from Lea or Natalia to Jane or Melania. But Patient 99 didn't have a name. As soon as I could I left these places full of hope that made me sick. At first I didn't know what to do. I didn't know how to work, I never had parents who could tell me how society worked. I lived in a world where all I knew was social outcasts.
Quickly, I learned to lie. I gave fake names, I told fake lives. I created fake people.
I learned how to never be myself anymore.
I always had several passeports in my bag, all I had to do was to choose which one I'd be this time.
I always knew where to eat. Even if I didn't have any money, I could live like a princess. I owned under different names giant houses and places.
Because even if Patient 99 had failed her life, all the other people inside my head hadn't.
