She opens it, and I can see she has cried. Her eyes are big, red, and covered with flowing mascara.

She hesitates a bit, then adds slowly, with a weak voice :

I don't answer, and immediately goes to her kitchen. Then I open a drawer and take a box of cookies. I put violently one in my big mouth.
