So, August! Definitely a month. Can't really say much has happened, though - I mean, I haven't heard much about my writing from anybody, I haven't made much progress with deciding my larger project and my money problems are finally sorted (yay!). I'll talk about the few bits I can think of.
So, I've decided on Urban Fantasy - the whole "magic creatures exist but have to hide from the far-more-prevalent humans" thing. I'm thinking of a general plotline that goes as follows. Two warring elementals (or an angel or demon) are fighting when they notice a human is watching in awe. They both try to coerce her and find a sort of truce as they shift their focus. The elementals move in with the human and start to settle down, but a greater threat starts to emerge. Each elemental thinks they can do better than the other and tries to stop it, but neither can win individually. The human, who's been gaining some experience with their magics, is able to use both at the same time to overwhelm the greater threat - but, as a result, is branded as a magic entity and becomes invisible to humans. I need to iron that out bigtime (mainly what the supernatural elements will be), but that's the basic idea. Sounds pretty awesome, right?
So I've recently been given an idea for another book I could publish without changing much. Short stories! If I polish up a bunch of what I've done already, I might even be able to make a one-a-week short story set, or maybe even one-a-day if I can catch up with the gaps the multipart efforts created. Honestly, I'm surprised I didn't think about this already, 10 Minute Tales is already on that vein as it is - hell, the name in and of itself would work for the book. I need more story ideas as a result, though - as per usual, any and all feedback is begged for! Not even asked at this point, I'm begging to hear what you guys want me to write about. I've been able to use /r/writingprompts for a bunch of ideas but I'm not done writing by a long shot.
Two-thirds of the years are done and gone! This writing has still been going strong, and honestly, I'm proud of myself. I thought I'd give up before Feb was out, and here I am months later, one novella up and a bunch of stories on the interwebs for all to read at their leisure. I think I can do this at this rate! Thanks to all of you for reading, thanks to some of you for providing creative feedback, and I hope I can continue to entertain you! Phoenix out!
