Journal of Liam Evergreen, Student

Day 33

It's been a relatively quiet day today, but I'll still try to keep this journal going. Who knows what others might think of it, after all.

I should start with one of the more exciting events; I was able to capture a Pikachu! I mentioned I was heading out in my last entry, and that's what I found after a few minutes of looking around. It was a quick capture, to my pleasant surprise. What was a less pleasant surprise was being smacked in the face by Kit's new catch, Poliwag. She was excited, though, so I was able to forgive her and move on.

Speaking of moving on, we moved on from Harmony Town and proceeded onto Route 104. We were all more active in looking for pokémon - even I got swept up. The first couple we found was a Jigglypuff and a Spearow. Warner panicked like mad, knocking the Jigglypuff out before I had a chance to intervene, but I was able to get Pikachu - now nicknamed Nezumi, the Kanto word for "mouse" - to help defeat the Spearow. Kit's Mimikyu doesn't seem to like Nezumi, but hopefully, I'll be able to calm her down - at least a little.

Later down the route I got curious and looked under a tree in search of Pokémon. Imagine my surprise when a Nincada came out and bit me in the face! That was less than pleasant, but I was able to capture it too. Warner was interested in it so I gave him the little guy in exchange for a replacement Great Ball. These things have been working brilliantly for me.

After an encounter with a kind old man living on the route, we made it to Monet Town. We were approached by an assistant to another professor, and I said I was interested in helping that professor out if he needed me - and if I wasn't busy with my grandfather's requests. There was a trainer's club nearby, which we went to visit. Uriko went straight to the battling area, while Kit and Warner made a beeline for the trading area. I took the opportunity to groom my pokémon in a clear area. The local gym leader came in and brought one of the trainers back out with him, but the more interesting event was an elderly gentleman with an Alolan Vulpix. It didn't seem to have an owner, but on seeing me the little girl seemed to take to me almost immediately, so I agreed to look after her. It almost felt like it was my birthday!

I'm sat on my bed in the centre now, keeping an eye on my party as I write this. I've got a full team of six, and when I get some training in, I don't think they'll be half bad. Maybe I should look into becoming a full-time trainer? I mean, still helping my grandfather, obviously, but I seem to have a knack for capturing. I'll focus on my studies for now, of course, but who knows what the future will bring?
