Been staring at the screen again. Three-quarters of an hour this time. Maybe it's time to plot out some geography for the trilogy I mentioned?
The main kingdom is definitely a foresty one. There's going to be rolling fields of some crop or other (I'm thinking wheat, drives that European feeling home). That being said, of course, no kingdom does well with one industry, let alone one crop, so they probably have more. Nearer to the kingdom, maybe not, so the princess would be used to wheat fields or orchards of apples. Livestock would be in use too, though what would be around the kingdom... sheep? Chickens? Probably one of the two.
The main kingdom's trade system would be based on the ocean, with the capital having a decent-size port for trade purposes. The trade would mostly be lumber and such thanks to the large forested territories, but they would have to be careful. The magic behind the royalty would influence something, alright. Maybe the fantastical source of the dreams allows them to have a more exotic source of trade? I would need to think on that one more - outfits and jewellery come to mind. The transformation aspect of the dreams would be more awkward to sell safely due to the volatile nature of it. After all, would you trust a body you had in your dream?
The people are the next port of call. It sounds like they would be very used to the magic, but since it's royalty alone they wouldn't be able to use it. Maybe they see it as a connection to forgotten deities? Though, if that were so, how would they protect themselves from more hostile entities brought forth from nightmares? And what could they do with more benevolent or even helpful entities? I guess it would depend on the entity in question, but I dearly want to avoid deus ex machina. I'll need to figure something out... maybe it's restricted to monsters available in common mythology? But then I'd need to find a reason for that limit... thankfully, I already have a couple of ideas in that regard.
Well, that took two hours total for me to get even that far, I think I should call it there for now. Don't really have anything to say, so I'll just... head off. Thanks for reading, sorry I seemed so distracted this time. Here's hoping next time is better.
