Oct 3 - Trilogy idea?

So, I'm still thinking about Dreams of Power, I've thought about how it could become a trilogy. I'll keep it short and sweet, I just want to get these ideas down on metaphorical pen and paper while I still have them.

So, the first of the trilogy would be set in the past. It'll be based in a fictional kingdom where the females of the line would be able to access the dream power, akin to what DoP showed.  The idea is that the dreams are only one of the ways to get magical power, though one of the most complicated. The princess gets kidnapped and has to fend for herself while help comes to save her. Not sure of the details beyond that, but I already have a few ideas in mind. The being that teaches her this strength will be something akin to an incubus - a demon that appears in dreams. However, unlike the contemporary incubus, this one's pledged allegiance to her bloodline from a few generations ago, hence the dream powers. Usually, only the queen learns them, but the necessity of the kidnapping coupled with her own enthusiasm and abilities convinces the incubus to start the lessons early. Of course, such power in such a young heart probably isn't the best of ideas, but I'll save anything extra for the book.

The second would be in the present; the idea behind that is the bloodline exists, but hasn't been king for a long time for a reason I haven't decided yet. The incubus, weakened, approaches the bloodline's survivor and explains the situation. Though she doesn't believe it at first, the incubus is able to prove it. What from there, I'm not sure; maybe she has to reinvoke the old ways to keep the incubus going? Or, if nothing else, her own family line...

The final entry in the trilogy would be another sci-fi. Scientists think they've got dreaming down solid, to a point where they're offering pills and such to act as counteragents for night terrors. This is the biggest threat to the incubus, who again approaches out of the blue. I might have flashbacks to allow for characters from the previous books to make an entry, maybe even have them do something more significant. Oh, I have plans for them all, alright, but this sci-fi one is proving to be the biggest problem for me right now. Where do I go with it? What sort of powers and bloodlines would I be invoking to this crazy idea? How much planning should I put into it? I know there's plenty to all three that meets the eye - for example, will I have to account for continental drift? I doubt the differences would be that extreme - to my knowledge, any significant difference takes millennia, not centuries. There's plenty to have fun with; I'm looking forward to all this. Stay a while, and listen! Let's see where exactly this goes.
