Chapter 18: Traitor

Green: I rushed through the cavern to find lava pooling at the bottom of the cave. I was about to scout further when a cry met my ears and he pounced upon before I could even react. I looked up in surprise and joy to see Red's tear-filled eyes and smiling face. 

Red: "Green! Y-Your alive!" I hugged his chest tightly. He was real! I felt him wrap his arms around me after a second and I sobbed happily. 

Blue: I punched Green in the side, "You know how to give us a scare. Don't run off like that again." 

Green: I felt tears of joy well up in me as I looked up and smiled at Blue and pat Red's head. We were finally together, I fought so hard to so hard to see their faces. "Wait... wheres Vio?" I asked glancing around for my purple brother. "And Opal?" Their faces dropped and Blue was about to say something when suddenly the lava exploded and hot air hit us. Blue protected us but his wooden shield quickly burned up, thankfully it lasted long enough for the heat to die down a bit. When I opened my eyes again I looked in shock at a circle that had formed with rocks leading up to it. However, above that sat a thrown on which Vio sat with an enemy we hadn't seen in a while, Shadow Link. I felt Red quiver beside me as a cold and ominous chuckle echoed through the cavern. 

Vio: "So the fools have arrived at last. Welcome to my Kingdom of Fire and Brimstone, brothers of mine."

Blue: "This is another trick! You aren't the real Vio!" I cried drawing my sword and grasping it tightly. 

Green: "Vio would never do something like this! He's loyal to us!" I felt my confidence shrink as I looked up at him. Red said nothing he just gripped my arm tighter to afraid to look away.

Shadow: "That is where you are wrong. Vio knows the strength of the darkness your all just dwindling lights waiting to be swallowed up." I said licking my lips and draping my arm over Vio's shoulder.  

Vio: "I assure you I am real." I said coldly with a smirk on my face. I cut my palm with a small dagger and watched as the blood dripped this earned me a look of horror from the other three.

Green: "If you really are a traiter...than fight me! Right here right now!" I shouted my shoulders shaking with emotion. 

Red: "No please! Vio...Green! You guys can't!" I felt my stomach twist as Green stepped forward. My knees started shaking Blue grabbed my shoulder. I leaned on him allowing him to support me fearing my legs would give in. 

Vio: I chuckled and jumped down onto the platform. "I know you Green, but you don't know me. You won't kill me but I won't grant you the same courtesy." 

Green: "That's for sure I don't remember you being this so full of yourself." I said glaring back at him as we circled each other waiting for the other person to make their move. I attacked first swinging for his torso but he blocked it effectively. I pulled back and jumped behind him trying to slice his leg but he turned around catching my arm with his blade.

Vio: "You mean nothing to me anymore. You could have begged but now...I guess your death will mark the beginning of darkness on this land."

Green: "Oh really? Do you feel free yet Vio? Following Shadow blindly? What would Opal say if she could see you now?" I saw him hesitate and I charged, he moved to the side tripping me to the ground. Thankfully I rolled out of the way of his blow that would have killed me instantly.

Vio: I felt my anger coil up and in a flash, I had dealt a blow to Green. I felt the strike to his torso, a smile lifted my lips as I whispered a fair well before he slumped to the ground. I looked down at his body before jumping out of the way of Blue's blade. Shadow laughed again and I felt him behind me. We both disappeared without a trace. Blending with the darkness.

Opal felt cold water splashed on her face. Her eyes opened to see his cold yellow eyes filled with glee. She never imagined that this is how it would all end. "I hate that you can't scream." He said after dislocating her shoulder. "It's a shame you can't talk maybe if I leave you in the dark a little longer." He woke me up to tell me he was leaving me. Fantastic, I thought, but here I am again as the darkness eats away my thoughts. I wanted to die but I had tried that already. There was nothing her but a dark cage. Nothing at all but my own pain. I felt my stomach churn. How many days had it been in this darkness? Vaati and his mind games, why couldn't he end this. Why couldn't I submit? He sat me down for hours talking to me, using his powers to look so deep inside me. I closed my eyes seeing no difference even when they were open. I could see freedom so far away. Those dragons were happy now. They were free. I'll let them live on instead of me.
