James followed me to the box of guns and I pulled out a bright blue one and offered it to him. He shook his head and grabbed the pink one. “I like giving them something to talk about.”
“Good attitude. Why fit it when you can stand out?” I beamed at him.
“Exactly!” he said, smiling like a Chinese man. I burst out laughing and he somehow made himself more Chinese-like. Punching his arm, I caught Beau glaring at Daniel. What exactly was his problem?
“That is probably the funniest smile I’ve ever seen,” I told James, clutching my stomach.
“I’ve been working on it in the mirror,” he said, holding his head high in mock pride. “Wait, that’s where I know you from!”
“Huh?”
“You’re the girl I bumped into on the way to the Bay’s house!” he exclaimed.
“That was you?” I asked, recognition finally setting in.
He nodded. “Yep! You kinda seemed like you were away with fairies.”
“I was. Sorry, I didn’t even see your face. I want captured by my new house.”
“No problem. You’re completely forgiven.”
I nudged him and gestured for us to join everyone again. Two more people had arrived and were swarming Summer. Daniel looked like a Chihuahua trying to be a guard dog.
“Hey, shit face, meet some new people?” I asked, gesturing to the two strangers with my gun. They looked at me quizzically for a moment and then decided to trail the length of my body with their eyes.
“Sure did, Bitch. Guys, this is Grace. Grace, this is Hunter and Leon.”
“Hi,” I nodded at them like my brothers usually did and gave them my own once-over.
Hunter was lean with stormy blue eyes and black hair that swept over his forehead. His lips were pouty and his complexion pale in comparison with the rest of the Australian boys.
Leon was tall and built like a quarterback with bleach blonde hair, pale blue eyes and a contrasting shy smile. Unlike Hunter, he was insanely tan, to the point where I thought: is it a spray-on or hours of immense tanning?
“Hi,” Leon replied shyly. A quarterback-looking boy that was shy- who would have thought they existed?
“What’s up, Grace?” Hunter nodded back, grinning cockily. It reminded me of how Jay had introduced himself and I smiled at the memory.
“Just getting ready to kick your Australian asses,” I replied, pumping the gun.
Hunter laughed mockingly. “No way you’re beating me, babe.”
“You don’t wanna call her that…” Summer warned.
“What, babe?” he repeated, making me narrow my eyes further.
“Dude, don’t mess with Gracie,” Beau also warned.
Hunter scoffed.
“Seriously, she’s one tough chick,” Daniel said, obviously remembering how I had pulled down his pants in almost this exact spot. I smiled to myself at that accomplishment.
Leon eyed me curiously and I beamed up at him. Way up, actually. He must have been at least six foot.
“Hey guys!” a girl chirped from behind me. I turned to find a short, bubbly girl strutting over to us. Her tiny hips swayed as she walked and her smile was infectious. She had a tiny, straight nose, gray-blue eyes lined with smoky make-up and blonde, pixie-like hair. Needless to say, she was insanely pretty.
“What’s up, Pixie?” Hunter said smoothly to her. She rolled her eyes at him and slipped her arms around Leon.
“Hi,” she beamed up at him, completely lost in his eyes. My gosh they were cute and I’d only seen them together for a second.
“Hi,” Leon replied, craning his head down to kiss the top of her head. She snuggled into him and then turned to me.
“Grace and Summer, this is Ari, my girlfriend,” Leon said, squeezing her side.
“Hi Ari, I’m Summer.”
“And I’m Grace,” I added.
“You are both insanely gorgeous,” she said, basically ignoring our introductions. I liked this girl already.
“Thanks,” I grinned helplessly. Something about this girl was infectious and made anyone within ten metres smile. “Not trying to sound like a lesbian, but you’re really pretty.”
“I know,” she replied. “I’d have to be to get my Leon.” Ari peered up at Leon and he just stared into her eyes. My gaze suddenly darted to Luke for someone reason. But then it also zipped to Jay’s face, and then Beau’s. What the hell was my subconscious up to?
“I still don’t know how I got her,” Leon said to us, still looking at Ari adoringly.
“She must be blind,” Hunter scoffed. All us girls glared at him and he cowered slightly, and then jogged off to grab a gun.
“Grab me and Leon one!” Ari ordered. “So have either of you got boyfriends?”
Summer looked wary and unsure of what to say, so I spoke for her. “Well Daniel here is trying to win Summer over. They’re practically going out.” Summer blushed and hid her face in Daniel’s shoulder. I rolled my eyes at them and turned back to Ari. “As for me, I’m a single pringle.”
“For now,” she practically sang. I was just about to ask her what she meant when another joined the circle we’d formed, and draped herself over Luke. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her chest against him. “Hi, Lukey,” she said silkily.
