Day tried to block him from getting to us, but that old man had some tricks up his pristine clean sleeves. He pushed Day out of his way with strength a guy his shouldnt have, and planted a syringe into his neck and pushed the yellow liquid into Days blood stream. I jumped up, finally snapped out of my daze and tried to get Day out of his line of fire. But what I didn't anticipate was a sharp sting in my neck. I jumped back in shock and yelled out "What do you what?"
He looked a little shocked with his actions, but he had a glum determination set on his thin lips. "I need help. I... I can't do this alone."
"Do what Doc?" Day said sharply, pushing me behind his back. I had to go to his side to see around his broad shoulders.
"To take down The Lab. And I can't do this alone, I have chosen you two to help me." He stopped at the sound of heavy foot steps interrupting our little 'chat'.
"I will contact the two of you later when you transformations are done, until then." He saluted us and ran out of the nurses office, disappearing around the corner.
My knees gave out from underneath me from my lack of adrenaline that was keeping me up. Nurse Mitchell came in, like I thought, taking her sweet, dandy time.
"Here you go dear, a little something to take away your pain." She said in a sweet smile and moseyed back to her corner reading a paper back romance book. I took the one look in the little paper cup and threw away the cup with the medicine in it. Something in me told me not to take. What it was I don't know, but I figured I should probably listen to myself for once.
"Electra, why did you just throw away the whole reason why we came here for?" Day asked in a hushed, but annoyed tone.
I hoped up from my cot and half-walked, half-ran to the door. The room was starting to make me feel closed in. "I'm listening to my body." I said in a duh tone.
"Okay..." He said insurer. "What should we do about the shots? We don't know what was in them, there could be life threatening stuff that is running through our veins now! And how was Doc able to push me aside? Not to brag, but during football games I am able to trample most of the guys. He should not have been able to push me out of the way so easily!"
We reached our chemistry class and before Day could grab the door knob, I raised my hands to his shoulders. "What we need to do now is to watch out; we don't know when he is coming back and we also need to keep an eye out on our body's. If you notice any weird rash or bump, anything, you need to tell me. I will do the same thing. Just keep your head screwed on Day, okay?"
He widened his beautiful blue eyes and gulped. After nodding his head in agreement, he pushed the door open to our class room.
The rest of the day flew by in a blur. I avoided Katiey, not in the mood for her to go all Spanish inquisitor on me. My head was throbbing and I started to get the cold chills that seemed to rack my body with each chill that passed through me. At the end of the day I hadn't seen Day so I assumed that he was fine. I loaded up my book bag and got onto the dinky school bus. I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, a random freshman kid was shaking my shoulders, saying that it was my stop. I stumbled off, feeling suddenly hot, even though I was wearing a short-sleeve t-shirt in the middle of the fall.
I live in Ellistion, Virginia, where the population is 902 people. Everyone knows everyone and if someone moves in, it will be the talk of the town for months, possible even for one or two years. Yeah, nothing exciting ever happens here. Most of the jobs that are available here are manufacturing and other small jobs that we need in order to keep our lovely town up and running.
I dragged my feet into my ranch style house since it was just me and my mom. I unlocked the cherry wood front door and walked into the living room, throwing my bags down. Looking around our almost empty living room, excepting the small, black love seat and and small t.v., I concluded that she was not in here.
"Mom?" I yelled out. In seconds, I heard her reply saying "In here!" from her bedroom.
"Hey baby!" My mom, Emily Martin, said in her happy, bubbly voice. She is forty-two, even though she looks like she should be in her early thirty's. She is 5'5, the same height as I am, and has plump red lips and a small, straight nose, but that's where our similarity's end. She is a plump woman with rich brown straight hair that reaches to her shoulders with chocolate brown eyes too match. Sometimes I joke with her that I am adopted, but she always brushes it off and say that I look exactly like my dad, but in a prettier, female way.
"Hi mamma," I reached to her and hugged her, smelling in her familiar scent of lavender and freesia "I don't feel so good, so I am going to go and lay down for a bit, wake me up for dinner ok?"
Mom looked at me in concerned and put a hand to my forehead and said, "Are you coming down with a fever? Do you want any medicine?"
"No, no medicine for me mom. I'm sure that its just the stress of school. I will be back up and running tomorrow!" I said with a fake smile. All I want right now is to go to my bed and curl up for a few hours and snooze.
I went to my bedroom and opened to door to it. The walls were a dark navy blue with silver accent swirls all of them lighting up the room a bit. My pride and joy stood in the middle of my wall, between the two windows , was my baby. My canopy bed was fit for a princess, with light, shimmery silver curtains on each side and a plush, navy comforter on it. I would not be ashamed if some one from royalty came and slept in it. Though I wouldn't let anyone sleep in it, like I said, its my baby.
I pulled off my jeans and crawled into bed and zonked out into blissful slumber.
