Sun light; why is there sunlight when I have heavy, thick curtains to block out the light? I rolled over to my side and slowly opened my eyes, letting my eyes adjust to the bright sun that was currently flooding the room. The events of today, or was it yesterday, slammed in to my head like a fright train.
I took a mental check of my body; no achy pain in my back, actually no pain anywhere. I was pleasantly surprise at that. That whole afternoon was filled with a pain that was similar to the growing pains that I've had when I was a child, making me clutch my legs to my stomach and wither in pain at nights. They got worse when I was in my early teens, to the point where I had to stay home from school. When I had those pains some odd hours ago, all I could do to not cry was to focus my thoughts on Day.
Great, was I obsessed with him now? I know that we are some how connected, with the yellow liquid coursing through our veins now, but I don't want to have a crush on him. It would only make things more difficult.
I threw on some jeans and a sweater and paused when I saw myself in the mirror. I looked completely different. I was tall before, 5'6, but now I'm 5'8. All of my 'softness' around my stomach and upper arms are gone, and in place of them are muscles. Smooth, creamy skin had replace all of my stubborn freckles and acne. My once long, wavy, red hair was now even more wild. Spiral silky curls with golden highlights through out my waist length hair and vivid, emerald green eyes stared at me. Holy poop. What was in that shot?
I ran out of my room with gracefulness that I have never known. I smelled bacon and pancakes and I followed my nose to see that my mom was standing at the stove tending to the bacon and she had a frown, making her seem older than she is.
"Hi mom, when is the food going to be done? I feel like I could eat for the two of us!" I said jokingly, hoping to erase the frown off of her face.
She jump at the sound of her voice and turned to face me. "Well I did expect you to be hungry; you slept threw the whole day yesterday! I tried to wake you up but you were dead to the world. If you didn't wake by noon today, I was going to call the doctor."
I internal gasped in shock, I was asleep for a whole day and night? What about Day?
"Mom, I need to go somewhere today, I can't go to school." When she started to protest, I held up a hand to silence her. "Please mom. It's something that I need to do. I promise to keep my phone on me and I will be back tonight."
She seemed conflicted, and then she made her decision. "If you do anything stupid today, I will be very upset. As in 'sell-your-bed-and-get-a-couch-for-you-to-sleep-on' mad. Get it?"
"Don't worry mom, I hear you loud and clear." Not my baby.
I grabbed a few pieces of bacon and grabbed my leather jacket and headed out to Days house. Basically all of the high school kids live in the same neighbor hood, and every one knows where every one lives. It's a small town thing.
About two blocks later, I was standing outside of Day's house. It was a small two story house that had a pretty garden that lined the walk way up to the door. I knocked on the door and heard a dog barking from the inside. The door opened and I heard a women say "Serge!" and the next thing I knew I was on my butt with a short, but fat beagle trying to lick my face off.
I cracked up at the situation and slowly got up. A women, I'm going to guess Day's mom, took Serge by the collar and ushered me into the house. "I'm guessing your one of Day's classmates?"
"Oh, yes! I'm Electra Martin, I live two blocks away. Um.. I wondering if Day was home today?"
She looked at me suspiciously. "Why arn't you at school?" Great.
She must be use to seeing all of these random girls trying to get Day, right? I looked at the ground and said as innocently as I could, " Well ma'am, I heard that Day wasn't at school and I was only making sure he was all right. Two days ago he said he wasn't feeling good."
When I looked back up, I looked at Mrs. Ward closely for the first time. She and her son had many similarities. They both had black curly hair and the same straight nose and jaw, but only Day's were more masculine.
"You can go on up and see him, he might be up. He hasn't been up since yesterday, and I'm getting worried." She said with a similar frown that was on my moms face this morning.
She led me up the stairs and pointed to what I presumed Day's door. I looked back at her and nodded her in thanks. She smiled and headed back down. I pushed the door open and I saw his room for the first time.
One wall was completely covered with book selves and on those bookshelves were, of course, books. There must have been hundred and hundreds of books! I'm never coming out of here! I squealed a little and bounded towards the books without a second thought and started to scan the titles. Most of the were sci-fi books and some were adventure books. I was in heaven in here, Day is going to have to force me out of here. Day! I spun around and saw that a bed that had a plain black comforter on it, and underneath the comforter was Day, sleeping in them.
I crept closer to get a better look at Day and I immediately became worried. He was pale and had a light layer of sweat that covered his face. I hopped up and ran to a bathroom that was connected to his room. I grabbed a washcloth and ran cool water on it. I squeezed the excess water out and ran back out to Day's side. I ran the cool cloth over his face gently.
Day's face looked more relaxed and peaceful. Usually at school, he either had a smirk on his face or a scowl. Most of the time it was a scowl. I wonder why he has to be a jerk to people sometimes. He was a jerk to me, but now he is nice; I wonder what changed his mind. I just hope that he can be nice to everyone now.
I noticed something different about Day. His hair was almost a deep dark blue now. Normally you have to be in a certain light to see the blue, but now you can see it clearly. His hair grew about two inches, so it was now touching the tips of his long, thick eye lashes, but the curls were the same.
I pushed his hair off of his forehead and put the cool washcloth on it. I guess he wasn't in a deep sleep anymore, because his electric eyes flew open in startled shock. He flew up and flipped me over, pressing the length of his body to mine, trapping me here. His eyes lost the dazed look actually looked at me. "Electra?"
My mind had temporally stopped out at the moment, and took me a few deep breaths to get over the fact I could feel all of Day. Hard, solid muscles and everything.
"Yah Day?" I breathed out.
"Why are you here?"
"To check on you. Can you please get off of me?" That seemed to get him to realized that we were in a...compromising position to say the least.
He looked down in shock and flew off of me like I had the black plaque. "I-I'm sorry, I kinda panic. I didn't mean to squish you." He stuttered out.
I giggled a little, seeing this big, macho guy failing at try not blush. "Are you laughing at me?" Day asked teasingly.
I put on a serious face. "Laugh at you? Never. But giggle at you? Always."
"Why you little-" He cut himself off to launch himself at me to tickle me. Now let me tell you something, when someone tickles me, I don't laugh. I scream and flail and kick. I am dangerous. Tickle me and you will end up with many bruises. To bad Day doesn't knows that; yet.
I tried to keep my screams down, but I unleashed my legs on him. Since I was ticklish all over (it's a curse) anywhere he touch, I erupted in wheezing gasps trying not scream.
"Okay okay! I'll stop!" Day said with a huge grin on his face. I had been kicking him relentlessly.
I pulled down my sweater that had ridden up in the fight and turned to Day and he said, "We need to talk."
