“Lily and Jace, sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G.” I teased my brother and Lily when Niall and I walked into our flat and saw them kissing again. Geez. Couldn’t they go somewhere else and do that? You’d think they would, but nope. Instead they’d rather scar me for life.
“Do we really need to discuss what I walked in on this morning?” My brother looked at Niall and me.
“Nope!” I said and sat on the couch.
“What happened this morning?” Lily asked and looked from my brother to me.
“Oh, nothing.” I lied. I could feel my face start to get red.
“You’re a horrible liar.” She said, but dropped the subject.
Niall changed the topic, “So what are you watching?” He casually threw his arm over my shoulder.
I looked at him, my eyes were wide. He got what I meant and took his arm back. We were with Lily, and she would make a big deal about it. Yeah, it was okay in front of my brother, but I didn’t want Lily to know yet. She knows how I feel, but I wasn’t ready for her to know everything yet. Not until I knew what Niall and I were.
Jace cleared his throat and looked at me, “Okay, well Lily and I are going to go out or her place. Just away from here.”
“I love you!” I called after him before he shut the door. He didn’t say it back, so I pulled my phone out.
“What are you doing?” Niall asked me.
“Calling him. He’s not leaving without telling me he loves me too.”
“He just left.” Niall pointed out.
“You know what I mean,” I smiled at him and my brother answered his phone. “That was rude, I hope you know that.”
“I know.” My brother chuckled.
“Let’s try this again, I love you.”
He laughed again, “Love you too, sis.”
“Much better,” I said and hung up on him.
I looked at Niall, “You can put your arm around me again?”
His eyes were glued to the TV, “Nah.”
My eyes got wide, I knew I over thought what we had. We were just friends. “Okay then,” I said and started to get up. I was utterly embarrassed. I shouldn’t have said anything.
“Jay wait,” He said and grabbed my hand.
I held back the tears that were forming in my eyes, “Yeah?”
“I was kidding.” He said and pulled me back down to the spot I was in. This time, he pulled me closer and had both of his arms around me.
I smiled up at him and lightly kissed his cheek then put my head in his shoulder.
He smiled at me, “So what do we want to watch now?”
“I think all we’ve done lately is watch movies, eat, and sleep. We’ve seen the boys once, with the exception of Harry and Louis who think they can come into our flat whenever they feel like it.”
“Then get up.” He said and pulled me with him.
“I didn’t say we should change that!” I laughed at him.
“I don’t care. We’re going out. Oh and you might want to wear a hat and sunglasses because I’m sure someone will spot us.”
“Then the headline in the paper tomorrow will be “Niall Horan and His Mystery Girl?’” I laughed at what I just said. It sounded stupid, but I laugh at anything that’s stupid.
