Well who the heck was that?! So Niall’s seeing some random chick now? I called the only person I could think of.

“Jace?” My voice cracked and tears started streaming down my face.

“Jayden? What’s wrong?” His voice sounded sincere.

“I’m using a gay guy to make Niall jealous, and the plan I have isn’t going as planned.” I told him.

“You just left a few days ago and you two were fine? Now there’s a gay guy and a new girl in the picture?”

“I shouldn’t have even told Niall I love him. None of this would’ve happened. We would still be talking to each other.” My voice was getting quieter, “We would still be friends.”

“I’m sure you’re still friends. Or at least I’m sure you will be again. You two aren’t going to throw away thirteen years of being friends.”

“Yeah, well, I’m not so sure about that anymore.” I told him and wiped away a few tears.

“Everything will work out in the end.” My brother told me.

“What makes you so sure about that?”

“Well if you two are meant to be together, you will end up together. Don’t doubt it.”

“Thank you Jace.” I told him before we said goodbye and hung up.

I thought about the brunette that was sitting only in the other room. Did he move on already? Well there’s only one way to find out. I’ll have to wait.

I walked back out of my room and into the bathroom. I was a little hungry and I wasn’t going to go by the living room looking like this. I had a small amount of make up going down my face from the tears. My eyes were a little red, but if I kept my head down, they wouldn’t look at them, and they wouldn’t notice.

I wiped away the excess make up and walked to the kitchen. Keep your head down, don’t look at Niall. Keep your head down, and don’t look at Niall. I kept telling myself this so I wouldn’t look up. Not that Niall would care, but I didn’t want her to be suspicious.

“Jayden.” Niall stopped me right before I walked into the kitchen. Crap.

I turned to look at him, “What?”

He opened his mouth to say something and his face softened a little, but was quickly replaced with something different. Lack of caring? I wasn’t sure. “This is Lea.” He looked down at his lap.

“Great.” I walked into the kitchen.

“First impression is always the most important.” I thought about how I thought the same thing about Chloe. She treated me horribly, and now I was treating Lea horribly. Oh well. She’ll get on with her life. It wasn’t important whether or not I liked her anyways. She was Niall’s new girl. Maybe even Niall’s princess. “Niall’s princess?” I asked myself in my head. This broke my heart to even hear those words.

“Jayden?” Niall’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

I turned to look at him. Fresh tears were about to replace where the old ones were once before, “What?”

“What’s wrong?” His face looked as if he really did want to know.

“What do you care?” I fought back the tears.

He looked taken back by this a little bit. I hoped he would walk away, but instead he walked towards me, “Because even though we haven’t been talking to each other for a while, I still care. If you’re hurting, I want to know why.”
