Carson POV (wanted to switch it up)

" This is the guy your dating, great now I can have a talk with him." Haleigh glared at me while Ethan looked at me with a confused expression. I could tell she was about to protest but my aunt didn't give her the chance. She had called Haleigh downstairs to help her with something.
She walked over to me and whispered " Please don't do anything to mess this up." What did she think I would do? She walked out of the room, closing the door behind her. As soon as I heard her footsteps on the stairs, I turned to Ethan who was avoiding my gaze.
" What are you doing here" He asked me.
" I'm her cousin and also her best friend " I said with a bit of an attitude
" Oh, I did not know that " he said still avoiding my gaze.
" How long have y'all known each other " I ask out of curiosity.
" Since Monday " He says and my eyes nearly pop out of their sockets. Three days. Are they serious, they've known each other three days.
" You hurt her like you did those other girls in middle school and I swear, it won't be pretty for you. I promised I wouldn't cause trouble while im here but I'd do anything for Haleigh." I've known Ethan since 3rd grade and we use to be close but things changed during middle school. Caitlyn was his number one priority which meant no one else was paid attention to. Even when they broke up, he started acting like a fuckboi and I wanted nothing to do with him since I wasn't like that.
" I'm not that person anymore nor do I want to ever be. You don't know the full story and that's mostly my fault because of what happened but Haleigh does and she trusts me to never do something like that to her. I could never hurt her. If I did, I wouldn't try to stop you from doing whatever you wanted to because I would deserve it."
" Maybe now that your dating my cousin, we can be friends again. Maybe it won't go back to how things use to be but we can start over."
" That would be nice, I missed my best friend " He said.
" Don't get all emotional on me now " I joked to lighten the mood. We both started laughing then went quiet when Haleigh walked in.
" Did I miss something" She asked looking between us.
" Nope everything's good, right Carson " Ethan said.
" Right, nothing to worry about H."
" Alright what are y'all hiding " She asked while looking at me with one eyebrow raised.
" What makes you think we're hiding something " Ethan asked. I think he was a little confused about what she was talking about.
" Carson only calls me H when he is covering up something " She explains.
" Fine, Ethan and I have been friends since third grade but then stopped being friends in eighth grade but just became friends again. See, nothing to worry about."
" Okay then, how about we have a movie night even though it's only like four in the afternoon. Also Ethan, my mom says you're staying for dinner and there is no arguing with her " She explains before turning on her heels and walking out. Ethan looked at me and I shrugged before motioning for him to follow her out. I followed behind him, closing the door behind me and walking downstairs. Haleigh was already on the couch with the remote in her hand. Ethan sat on her left side and I sat on her right.
" We are going to watch Interview with a Vampire because I love that movie " She said. I haven't seen Haleigh in over a year but she hasn't changed that much, physically and mentally. The only thing that's changed is that she's growing her hair out and she's grown a few inches. We were born a month apart, me being older. We sat quietly and concentrated on the movie.

Halfway through the movie, Haleigh moved so her head was on my lap and her legs were on Ethan. She threw a blanket over herself, not sure where she got it though, and closed her eyes. I looked over at Ethan and saw him staring at Haleigh. He had this fond look in his eye and a small smile on his face. In all the years I've known him, he's never looked at someone like this, not even Caitlyn. He looked up at me then quickly turned his attention to the t.v. I guess he realized I had caught him staring.
" I'm gonna trust you with her but its up to Haleigh whether she trusts you with her heart " I whisper. He nods in response to signal he understood me. I'm glad they've both found someone to give them the love they deserve. I just realized how weird this is, my ex-best friend and my cousin are dating. I slowly lifted haleigh's head up and stood up before putting her down on the couch. I walked into the kitchen and watched my aunt dance around the room while cooking dinner. She saw me and jumped while placing a hand over her heart.
" I am too old for you to be scaring me like that Carson " She said before returning to what she was making.
" You are not too old, you are barely in your 30's which to me means you are still young."
I see you met Ethan. How was it seeing your old friend with your cousin " She said with a smirk.
" You knew?"
" Of course I knew, you guys we're best friends for what, almost five years until you guys stopped hanging out with each other. Your mom sent me many pictures of you two and I recognized him as soon as I saw him."
" He really does care about her and I can tells she trusts him."
" I know he does, you really think I would let him be on that couch with her right now if I didn't know she trusted him. She's finally letting someone in besides us. There's a reason for that and I'm pretty sure you know why." Ethan was always a great guy and he always had a way with people but he's changed. Not in a bad way though, I think with the bad reputation people gave him, they never gave it a second thought that maybe he was the best person they could have ever met. He has closed himself off to other people but has let his walls down for Haleigh. They had a connection the rest of us couldn't see.
