Jace woke up and saw that Julia was laying next to him. She was in her wolf form. That was her special ability. She could stay forever in both human or wolf form if she wanted to. He remembered that he had to tell Trip... Maybe it would be best to do it now in the morning.
He walked out as quietly as he could. Trip was already walking down the hall to the stairs when Jace closed his door. He ran after Trip and stopped him. Trip looked at Jace in confusion. It was four in the morning so what was so important?
"I should have told you about Angie's condition."
"What do you mean? When did you know?" Trip frowned.
"That day you asked me to pick that box from town. The investigator was there he told me about her and wanted me to tell you."
"And you didn't tell me?"
Jace shook his head. He didn't know what else to say. Maybe he said enough already. He heard footsteps and saw their parents walking up the stairs. Trip heard too and turned. His breathing got heavier. The both of them could feel the presence of the former alpha as he took back his place. Trip's father looked up and smiled followed by Trip's mother.
"Good morning Trip and Jace. Your parents are still at the car." The Luna, Trip's mother, said.
"Good job on keeping the pack in order while we were gone you two." Trip's father stopped for a while and just stared at the two of them. Tension was just beginning to disappear between them and formed between Trip and his father.
"Come here Trip, give me and your father a hug!" His mother said with her arms wide open.
Trip glanced at Jace with his eyes narrow. Then went down to his parents. The three of them hugged all at once and he smiled. When they pulled away, his parents watched in confusion for a split second as he walked away down the stairs. Then his father called out to him.
"Where are you going?" He used his alpha tone.
"Dad, that won't work on me. I was alpha just a few seconds ago. But I'll give you an answer anyway." He turned back and looked at Jace. Their eyes met for a second and Jace could feel Trip break free from his chains.
"I'm leaving this pack. My human mate that you despised so much is dead, and I'm going to pay my respects. Maybe I'll come back, but whether I will be allowed to or not is going to be up to you, Alpha. And Jace, It's all good." He continued down the stairs and shouted back, "See ya around!"
"W-wait..." Trip's father was speechless. Never in his life did he expect Trip to ever have the guts to leave the pack. His wife's hand landed on his shoulder.
"This is what you wanted to accomplish when we left wasn't it?" She tried to calm him down.
"Yes..." He looked at Jace who was slightly smiling. "You've been awfully quiet."
"I'm sorry, sir. Good morning Alpha; Luna." Jace said.
"No need to be so formal. I won't be your Alpha for long."
"W-what do you mean sir?"
"Excuse us will you?" Trip's mother asked gently and lead her husband the rest of the way up the stairs and to their room.
Jace turned to go back into his room to check up on Julia. After wards he planned to go down to see if his parents needed help. Julia was already up but still in her wolf form. She laid on the bed with her ears perked up.
"Were you awake this whole time?"
'Yea.' Julia told Jace through the mind link.
"Sorry for leaving the door closed."
'I could turn human now, so It's okay.'
"No, not really, because it's like I was closing you in. That's not good." Jace went over to sit next to Juia.
'I heard everything anyway." Julia snuggled up against Jace's side. 'It's good that Trip is able to build up the courage to leave now. being the person he was before Angie died, he wouldn't have left no matter what. I kind of think he was taking Angie as a mate for granted. He though that she'd always be there.'
"But then again, you never know. I still feel guilty. He said it was okay, but I feel like that was a punishment rather than forgiveness."
'I'm sure he meant it. He realized that he should have went to her the second he found out she left to live with her father.'
"Stop talking for him, Julia. It's not good manners." Jace laughed.
'Well, I guess that's true. I'm just hoping what I say is true of him.' Jace could feel Julia pouting after she said that. 'I need to pee...'
Julia rolled off the bed and landed on her back the same time their door flew open. Jace's parents stood there. Jace's father was smiling, but his mother stood there staring at Julia with tears forming in her eyes.
"Oh my goodness..." Jace's mother walked in to take a closer look at Julia, who was frozen in her upside down position.
"What is it, Mary?" Jace's father asked.
"M-my daughter..." Jace's mother mumbled and Julia quickly changed her position.
