They all sat in silence on the floor of Jace's room, waiting for Mary to tell her story. Confusion filled Julia, Jace, and his father. The silence was almost unbearable with the only sound being Jace's mother's crying. Then she began to tell her tale.

It was when she was seventeen years old. She belonged to another pack then and was the beta's daughter. The alpha had just lost his mate and was devastated. It was unfortunate that Mary held similar features with the alpha's mate because the alpha turned to her for comfort right away.

She was forced to become his new mate and within a month, she was pregnant with the alpha's child. It was like all her dreams of ever having a normal werewolf life was gone. She was supposed to find her mate and have a happy life, but instead she was pregnant with an alpha werewolf who was desperate to have his mate back.

When the whole pack found out, they celebrated. This made Mary even more devastated. Her parents didn't even care. They were too afraid of the alpha to object his decisions. She turned wolf many times while trying to run away, but was caught and kept guarded for a while. One night after almost six months, she sneaked out of her pack territory. She turned wolf and ran as fast as she could. It took her six days to get into the territory of the pack she was now a part of. She stayed wolf most of the time during her journey.

Right at the beginning of the territory grounds, she gave birth. It was unusual though, because she couldn't give birth in her human form. She had to turn wolf in order to give birth. Then to her surprise, she only have one child that was already wolf. Her female child had a star-like spot under her body.

She stayed there for two days and saw that one of the female wolves gave birth to dead puppies. In fear that her alpha would catch up to her very soon, she left her child to the unfortunate she-wolf and left.

It was after that, that Jace's father found his mate, Mary. She was lying on the ground near the pack village. When taken to the pack doctor, it turned out that she had given birth and was just in need of nutrition and rest. After she was well again, she found that Jace's father already had a girlfriend who had given birth to his baby boy a month ago.

His girlfriend was Gwendolyn. She agreed to let Jace's father be with Mary if they took care of her baby, Jace, and raised him up to be the next Beta. Naturally, the new mated couple agreed but wanted to start their own family too.

They found out though, that after Mary's first time giving birth, she could no longer get pregnant. Jace's father never questioned about her life before, therefore they continued their life with only one child.

After hearing the story, Jace took off but Julia just sat there in shock. Then she went to her room to get dressed and ran to the place she knew Jace would be. The sun's rays came over the trees around and gave a sense of peacefulness despite how Jace and Julia's feelings at the moment.

"Are you ok?" Julia went to sit next to Jace on the picnic table.

"My real mother died a long time ago and I never even knew. Do you think I'm ok?"

Julia frowned. This was the not the usual Jace she knew, or maybe this was just another Jace she haven't met yet.

"The important thing is that you had memories with her. Atleast you knew your mother... I'm not whining or anything. I had a mother anyway, so I'm ok."

"You think so simply." Jace smiled slightly and shook his head. "She left you too. She wasn't even sure you would survive out there, but she left because she didn't want to accept her fate."

"Don't talk about her like that! Whether she gave birth to you or not, she was still the one who raised you. And I still got along fine. If it wasn't for her, we wouldn't have met because I would be in another pack, probably very far from here. Or worse, I wouldn't exist and we wouldn't have met that way either."

"Geez, you really are wise like Trip said." Jace turned to Julia and pulled her into his arms.

"Hehe, I know, I am pretty wise huh?"

"You know, I kind of feel stupid for getting hurt and mad like that. I guess I should just be happy I got you."

"Exactly what I would have said." Julia giggled as Jace took in her scent to calm himself.

They stayed at that place a little longer before they heard the alpha call for an assembly. When they got to the back of the pack house, there were a lot more werewolves than before. They smelled different, but not threatening.

"Good morning everyone, I called you all here today so that we may welcome the alpha of the Western Goldmoon pack, Tyler Goldmoon." Trip's father announced.

Most of everyone greeted. Everyone was confused.

"You may be wondering why there are other werewolves here that you do not recognize. Do not worry, they are here to hear my words too."

"Adressing my pack, as you all know my son Trip's unfortunate dilemma. I have decided that we combine into one with the Goldmoon pack so that my son may not become alpha. I, Hector Diluna alpha of the Diluna pack, here by give the permission of pack union. Welcome your new alpha, Tyler Goldmoon!"

You could hear screams and cheers. Most of them were from the Goldmoon pack. Mumurs and whispers came from the once Diluna werewolves.

"Wow... to think he would give up his position..." someone said.

"Yea, he took pride in being alpha, even if his pack was small." The other person replied.

"You, know what else he took pride in?" Jace asked them. "He took pride in his son even though his son had a "weak" mate. But most of all, he loved his family."

Everyone who heard Jace smiled because they all knew this was true. If he trusted this new alpha, then they would too. He would never put their pack in danger. And if one day there is danger, he would still fight for the people he love till the very end.

"This was meant to be his way of opening Trip's cage and letting loose the chains. But it seems like Trip managed it himself..." Julia said.

The announcement went on with Jace's father giving his position up. Then the packs did a bonding ceremony. Soon they would form one of the biggest packs.

In all this, there were two individuals. They had their ups and downs and watched as people they knew let go of their past and live the present. They may not have had the most intriging love story, but it was all just beginning for them.
