Hiccup's POV
I gripped on the ropes neatly tied on Toothless's suit. I patted the side of his neck and tilted my head to the side to get a clearer view of his eyes. He smiled. "Ready bud?" I asked.
He took a step back and kept his body closer to the ground, getting ready for take off. I put on my helmet and we blasted off.
And I have to be honest, it feels heavenly to fly with Toothless again, even it's just for a day.
The street lanterns got lit, giving light to the kingdom. I gasped in amazement. They're beautiful like fire. I wonder if Vincent ever goes out of the forest sometimes.
Or do Merida ever get tired of seeing this?
Well I don't know, it's not like those guys got to ride a dragon, right?
I examined the kingdom, and I reckon that the palace may still be further away. We took a turn, going back to the forest where we should be staying.
That is, until strong wind hit Toothless's wings, causing us to tremble onward. Our flight took loops until we handed on the ground with our heads.
I dusted my shirt and slowly got up. Toothless shook his head to remove the unwanted weeds hanging on him. "That was fast." I said grinning. He shot me a look.
Until light caught my vision. Blue, that is. Floating on the ground and makig whispering noises. I gasped and moved back. Toothless started and later calmed down, by the time I swear I saw the reflection of the blue creatures on Toothless's eyes.
"What are those bud?" I asked, gesturing at them.
Later on, someone grabbed me by arm, almost causing me to fall. I heard Toothless gasp and ran off immediately. I looked aside.
The image of those blue eyes were locked up in me again. Shh she whispered.
"M-merida?" I blurted, confused. What is she doing-
"What are you doing here?" I whispered loudly. Kind of ironic. She smiled and slowly pulled me up. She looked around, keeping an eye around her.
"Did you see that?!" she gasped. "See what?" I cocked an eye brow while I dust myself. "It's something bla-"
Toothless.
I rubbed the back of my neck and squealed to distract her. "Ahh! Um, w-what are those blue creatures?" I asked. Merida moved closer to me, until it's only half an inch till our noses touch.
"Those are wisps-" she answred before explaining the whole concept, almost lasting for about 4 minutes. "So, why are you here again?" I said, ending all her fuzzing.
She took a deep breath and looked back, to the forest packed with big boulders on the side. I swear, those trees were bending down, as if they were hiding the path from above.
She smiled and pulled my hand, "C'mon, I'll show ye something." she whispered and chuckled. I swallowed through my throat, obviously, and looked around. "Ahh, I have trust issues." I excused.
She stopped and rolled her eyes, "Ye'll love it lad!" she said in her weird accent, but I understand if it's completely normal for them.
I just grunted and leave her to pull me into where she would want me to see or wherever we are going.
She was laughing all the way while I was, or might have been too serious. But sometimes, you just can't take it when someone's laugh is just so hard to handle. I smiled and chuckled.
Then Merida stopped before a huge bush that covered the further view. I noticed that we were holding hands now. But she let mine go when she turned back to me.
"Close your eyes." she said. I rolled my eyes teasingly and shut them close. I'd feel her smile. But, like the joke I am, I sneaked a peak and probably said "Boo."
She narrowed her eyes and quickly covered my eyes with her hands. I yelped and jumped in pain, little pain. "Ow, you poked me in the eye!" I complained.
Shh!! she hissed, "Be quiet, they don't like noises." she said. I slowly nodded and slowly tiptoed ahead of her. She blocked my way and glared at me, "Cover.your.eyes." She reminded, word per word.
I sincerely closed my eyes this time. I could feel her smile thpugh, as she held my wrist and walked me farther forward. I could hear our footsteps now that every was quiet, even Merida. But I could easily hear the relaxing whispers, surrounding us.
I was eager to cheat and have a quick peak. But I the darkness has blinded me that I could see this as a gift. I hear her let out a soft chuckle once more before she gave me the permission to open my eyes when she let me go by my wrist.
We were here, alone in the woods. The vines covered our final path, like a our house's door, unwanting me to go out in my childhood days where everyone gets to see the fun and feel it when battling dragons but me.
"Shh, don't scare them up Haddock." her eyes flashed teasingly. I could hear the calm whispers again. She lifted aside the vine as we went on. My jaw then dropped because of awe.
It's beautiful, considering how many blue smoke-like creatures are here in the open air as they floated in ease. She her hand slipped into mine, clasping it gently. Of course I had to jump a little, considering I'm taken. Oh Astrid will kill me.
But as I felt her warmth and comfort through our fingers, I have barely minded that. Then she pulled me around, we tiptoed to the other side, going through the corner, not to disturb the creatures.
Then she let me go and just sat on the ground, staring back at them. It took me awhile to actually just sit there too. "I won't lie, but I do love this." I said. She chuckled and gave me a nudge, "Ah' told ye so."
"I saw them yesterday as I wandered around for a good catch." she said quietly. I cleared my throat. "How long have you stayed in here, exactly?" I asked.
"A week or two." she answered, strugling with every word as she tries to pronounce each correctly. Her eyebrows tried to stitch when she looked at her tongue with narrowed eyes.
Then we spent the night talking. I guess closure to a Scottish isn't that bad. Well I think they aren't too bad. Some, like Vincent, Zenera and Merida herself.
As the night glows, and the wisps beamed, something then came in the way. I may be the only one seeing it, but someone is spying on us, or isn't it just someone? The eyes are everywhere I tell you.
"Merida..." I started. She hushed me down through her index as her vision also extended to where I was meant to see. "I know." she whispered.
I slowly stood up, yeah sure, because I'm the man here. Making each step cracky thanks to my peg leg. The wisps try to slide away from me calmly, one disappeared. And with one swipe, I could see 4 kids, almost as old as Merida hiding.
They laughed and ran to the wisps, shoving me slightly aside, laughing and scaring away as much of the wisps. I chuckled and turned around to Merida, who seemed annoyed as she shoved her arrow slipping it back to her head, holding on to her body.
" Hey Merida!" They greeted playfully. She smiled, "Hey guys. Uh, where's that last guy?" She asked.
"Uh, Roudolf? He's sick." one of the two girls said. "Yeah, that's why we're out here looking for some herbs." A boy said.
Herb aye? I reached out to my pocket and grabbed the small pouched I was carrying this whole time right from Berk. It's some crushed dragon bone, ah nutrients, as the elderly says. I threw it up to the ginger boy's hands, he looked up to me.
"Just boil the crushed "white stuff" until it's all mixed up with the water, use only 1/4 of that "crushed white stuff" then pour on the juice of some guava leaves and mix them all together, that should do the trick." I instructed.
They all nodded and rushed out, pushing one out the other. I shook my head teasingly and headed to the exit. "G'd night Mer.." I yawned. She tried opening her mouth, but instead she crossed her arms and just rolled her eyes playfully.
"Uh..." she muttered, rubbing the back of her neck. I continued walking, leaving her there. "I had fun, Haddock!" she yelled. I stopped for a second. I slightly bowed down to smile. "Not bad too, Merida." I replied.
"Dunbroch, I'm Merida DunBroch."
