Escaping

Ren's POV

I woke up to Jace standing below us. "Jace?"

I asked, looking at him uncertainly. Alec woke up at the mention of Jace's name and looked down. "Ren and Mr Lightwood, I see you've met Johnathon Morgenstein." And I looked at Jace. "Johnathan Christopher Fairchild."

I said and he nodded slowly and I reached through the bars and slapped him hard. Jace's face slapped back. I looked at him, gaze murderous. "You son of a gun. I trusted you."

I yelled and roared, lunging against the cage. In a second, Valentine had a blade to Alex's chest through the bars. "Don't make me run your parabatai through." And I looked at Alec and relaxed, feeling tears slipping out of my eyes.

"You are my daughter to Aren Fairchild."

And I roared and slapped Valentine. "I'm not your daughter you monster! I'm the daughter of Lucian Greymark and Jocelyn Fairchild."

"You were never there and frankly, I'm glad you weren't, because then I would never have met my parabatai and the kids who look up to me like family."

And I twisted the sword and didn't care how it cut my hands, blood dripping onto the blades. "I'm part warlock as well you fool. Do you know what happens to metal that is touched by Warlock blood fool?" I asked, looking him in the eye. "It... Oh Jesus." And I ripped the bars apart as it corroded like acid around us.

I caught Alec as he staggered and I looked at Jace. "You'll never get out of here. The protective wards will kill you both." And I laughed. "Alec, get your bow and quiver ready." I Said and Alec drew his bowstring back.

I suddenly threw one hand out and a Hole was ripped in the shield and Alec retreated, shooting as I held the hole open. "Jump!"

I yelled and he looked at me and he must've seen what I was about to do. "Don't!"

And I looked at him, my eyes shining with the blades of the swords. "I'm sorry Alec."

And out of nowhere, Jace came and kicked Alec through the hole and Alec fell into the water with a splash. I looked down as the remaining guards bound me tightly. "Go ahead." I said as a seraph blade was pressed to my throat.

"I'm not going to face death with my eyes shut." I said and suddenly I sensed a portal from below. Clary ran up with two seraph blades and Began to fight. I began to kick and punch, maneuvering my stele into my hands.

I broke free and helped Dot hold it open. "Jump you two!" And Jace looked at me and I nodded. "Take care of him." I said and he nodded. "I will." And he grabbed Clary's hand and they soared off the side of the boat.

I let loose a terrifying scream and suddenly with a loud bang, the ship tore into pieces. I grabbed Dot and tossed her through the hole.

I saw Jace, Alec, and Clary looking at me. Suddenly the beams fell out beneath me as I leaped off. I felt something hit me in the back, and then I crashed into the sea. I dimly felt someone dragging me and suddenly I was gulping in air. I saw Alec and Jace were on either side of me. "You were prepared to do it."

Alec said after we had gotten back to land.

"You know I was Alec. To save you all, it would've been worth it." And he pulled up the sleeve of his hoodie that he was borrowing from Simon.

It was way too small and tight, but it would work until we got to the Institute again. I pulled mine up and it was an extra hoodie that Luc had gotten from Jocelyn's closet.

It was too tight on me, but it would work temporarily. I grasped his hand and he did the same. He pressed his forehead to mine and I shut my eyes as I felt our bond deepen as it solidified even more. I opened my eyes and Alec smiled. "You're eyes." And I looked in the mirror. "Let me concentrate for a second."

I said and he shook his head.

"It's okay Ren. I like them that way."

And I looked at him. "Honestly?" I asked and he nodded. "Honestly." He Said and I turned my face into his hand, my face wet from the ocean water. "Thanks Lightwood." I Said.

"No problem." He said and he kissed my cheek, looking at me. "Hey come on lovebirds! Let's get going!" Clary called and I shook my head as I limped into the light and suddenly a trio of arrows sprouted through my body.

I coughed and wheezed, as I saw one in my ankle and two in my shoulder. I swayed and collapsed. Jace caught me while Alec shot two arrows in return fire but didn't hit anything.

He ran to me and I smiled. "Hey Alec."

I whispered and he looked at me and pulled a stele out of his pocket and I stayed still and silent as he drew the runes. I passed out and it looked like I was barely alive, my chest barely moving or shifting, looked like I almost wasn't breathing or so my chest wasn't looking good.

Alec's POV

I was looking at my parabatai and my face was terrified of losing her. I took her from Jace and we raced off, running as fast as we could to the Institute. We ran in and found Lydia looking up. "Parabatai." I Said and she nodded.

"Follow me." And I raced after her, Ren still in my arms, shifting my grip so I was cradling her against my chest. "Please wake up Ren." I whispered as I put her on the ground. I kissed her on the forehead, and then on the lips gently before I walked out, running my hands through my always messy hair. "Go get some rest Alec."

Isabelle Said and I nodded. "Tell me if she wakes up?" I whispered and she nodded.

"I want her back as much as you do."

She Said and I nodded, looking at my arms. I walked away and slammed my door. Then immediately, Max ran in. "Max..." Isabelle started but I was already hugging my little brother and crying my heart out.

I felt my eyes heavy as they dropped with tears.
