Alec's POV

"Will she be okay?" I asked, looking at Isabelle. "We don't know big bro." And suddenly I heard someone yelling clear. I ran down and slammed into the railing, my knuckles white.

"Oh god." And I ran down, my eyes burning with tears as Lydia yelled clear again. I pushed through the crowd as the crowd tried to stop me. I got to Ren's side and Lydia looked at me.

I put my head on her heart and it was beating. "How did you do that? Her heart's back up." Lydia asked and I looked at her. "I'm her parabatai. How could I not?" I asked quietly.

I felt my eyes burning with tears. "I'm staying here." I Said and she nodded. "Understood." Lydia Said and dismissed all of them.

I stared into Ren's angelic face. I had seen it a thousand times before, but this was the only time I had seen her this peaceful ever. I moved hair out of her face and Lydia looked at me.

"Call me if anything changes." And she walked away. I looked around and I looked back at Ren who was still. I kissed her, my hands cupping her face, even though she wasn't awake to it.

I suddenly looked up to see Robert standing there. "Don't fall in love with a dead girl." And I looked at him, then looked back at Ren. "Too late for that." I Said and Robert walked away.

I fell asleep next to Ren, our hands locked together, mine around hers. I woke up to the beeping of the heart monitors. I began CPR immediately. "Come on Ren. Please wake up. Come on please. I'm begging you to wake up."

I said as I continued doing CPR. "Lydia!" Isabelle yelled and they took over for me.

"Get him out of here!" And suddenly I was getting dragged out of the room. I saw the lines flatlining and I felt my eyes burn with tears. I felt my heart breaking. Suddenly she gasped and woke up. "Alec." And I pushed away from the guards and pushed through the crowd.

I clamped my hands with hers and she whimpered and hugged me tightly.

"Hey. It's okay." And I scooped her up and the Shadowhunters moved out of the way as I disappeared, carrying Ren to my room, slamming the door behind us. I looked at her and she looked at me and she kissed me.

I smiled and felt her cool skin under mine.

I pulled her onto my lap and felt her arms around me. I had already been shirtless before as I had fallen asleep next to her, so she had full access to study my runes, which were in the same pattern as hers on purpose. "Hey what's this?" She asked and I looked at her. "What?"

I asked.

Ren's POV

I saw a hint of an actual tattoo on his upper torso on his left side, and I pulled his arm out of the way, so I could see it better. I looked at him and looked at the tattoo. "When did you get this done Alec?" And it was a perfect picture of me. "When you were locked in the Institute. Took the whole day to complete, the pain was worth all of it." And I looked at him.

"Alec..." And he looked away. "Was it really worth it?" I asked, looking at him, eyes weighed down and curious. "Every. Second." And he kissed me, spinning around to face me again. I felt his hands pulling my shirt up and I gasped as he bit gently on my neck. I smiled and kissed him again, my eyes full of surprise.

A few hours later, I was next to Alec, my hand tracing over the itraze rune on his neck. I smiled and he smiled at me. "You, Max, Izzy, and Jace are the only people who make me smile." He Said and I looked at him, my eyes smiling at me. "I love you Alec Lightwood."

And he kissed me. "Alec..." And Alec looked up to see Lydia standing there. "I guess I'll talk to you about our wedding later." And she spat those words out like venom. Alec looked at me and I shook my head. "Alec I am so sorry."

I said and he shook his head.

"I'll talk to her, but you should rest okay? I'll send Jocelyn in later." And I nodded. "Alec." I said weakly and he looked back. "Yeah?" He asked, crouching next to me.

"I love you, no matter what. Whether I'm your parabatai or your girlfriend or even both. Do what you need to do for the family Alec."

I said and he nodded. "I love you to Ren. Now don't go dying on me." And he kissed me. I felt his arm wrap around my shoulders. I smiled and kissed his cheek. "Go see Lydia."

And he kissed me again. Suddenly Jocelyn walked into the room and I stiffened up and my muscles locked into place like a statue.

"Can I be alone with my daughter for a minute?"
