mistaken

Small drops of water fell from Jorge's and now also Martina's eyes. He stood up from his kneeling and closed the box with the ring.

His teary eyes looked right into hers. "Oh" Was the only single word that escaped his lips.

He swallowed some tears that had rolled inside his mouth.

She gave him a look full of guilt and mercy. "I'm so so sorry, but I can't marry you" She cried out, making Jorge just feel worse. "Yet" She added immediately, trying to let Jorge feel at least a bit better.

"I want you to know that I love you, I do. But I'm not ready to be committed to you, we're too young, it's too early. We have our entire lived ahead of us and we can get married anytime we want." She explained while silent tears left her eyes while talking.

"I want to get married to you one day, I really do. But this all is too quick and I can't have this pressure on me. Let's just take it slow and focus on Olivia and on our family and friends." Martina said, taking his hands in hers.

Both persons were crying, holding each others hands. Jorge felt like breaking down and screaming his lungs out, but he couldn't.

He nodded at the words that had just left her mouth. "I get it" He said, his face showed a weak smile but it was obviously fake.

She placed her hands on his now lightly wet cheeks from his fresh tears. She pulled his face closer to hers and pressed her lips on top of his.

He felt her soft lips press onto his. An amazing feeling took over his body. Jorge held her waist and kissed her back harshly.

She felt how she needed him more and more. He was an important part of her life and she couldn't deny it in any way.

Their lips slowly left each other, a last touch made Martina have shivers. "Please just take it slow" She then begged while they had their foreheads locked to each other.

He nodded in a quick movement. He understood what she was saying but be couldn't help but feel hurt by the situation.

"I promise you, we'll get married one day" And with that promise, she missed his cheek and left him. Unlocking their hands from each other.

He stated behind her with a tranced look on his face.

"Mommy can you come and pick me up?" Olivia's small voice spoke through the phone.

She lend the phone of Emma's mom to call Martina.

"Of course honey, I'll be there quickly" Martina smiled through the phone even though Olivia couldn't even see it.

"Bye!" Olivia happily squealed and hung up the phone before Martins could even say something back.

Martina laughed in herself before she felt her head getting heavy again. She rapidly sat down on the bed and closed her eyes while holding her hands in her hair.

Just on that moment Jorge walked in and saw Martina having her tiny breakdown on the chair.

He quickly walked over to her and placed his hands over her shoulders from the back.

"You should lie down" He demanded her, waking to her front.

"No, I gotta pick up Olivia" Martina said in response and wanted to stand up but Jorge held her shaking body back.

"I'll go and pick up Olivia. You are going to lie down on the couch and take some rest" He said before lifting her up in his arms and walking with her to the couch.

A weak giggle left her mouth, followed by a cough. Jorge placed her on the couch and then grabbed a blanket and layed it over her shaking body.

"Now go and get better" He smiled and kissed her nose, making her giggle another time.

She didn't hesitate before closing her eyes and falling asleep.

He laughed and walked to his car. He drove to the house of Emma and rang the door bell.

And logically the woman he met at the school terrain opened the door. "Jorge!" She greeted him and let him in the house.

Emma's mother was named Anna and she had brown hair like Martina. She had beautiful blue eyes and didn't look bad.

Jorge sat down on a chair, waiting for Olivia to come down from Emma's room.

Anna was already walking up the stairs, telling Olivia that her dad was here to pick her up.

As the small girl heard the news, she ran down the stairs and jumped straight onto her father's lap.

"Hey daddy" She smiled while kissing his soft cheek.

Jorge chuckled while he looked at the beautiful girl sitting on his lap. "Are you coming with me to home? Mommy is waiting for us" Jorge asked her, receiving a huge nod from Olivia.

Jorge lifted her up and they said their goodbyes to Emma and Anna before leaving the house and getting back in the car.

As they arrived home they saw Martina peacefully lying on the couch. She wasn't sleeping anymore, just reading a book while soft coughs left her mouth every now and then.

Jorge smiled, took Olivia by the hand, and walked over to her.

"Mommy!" Olivia said and placed herself next to her mom's body.

Jorge smiled again and looked at the two women that were lying in front of him.

"Don't come to close sweety, otherwise you're going to get sick as well" Martina explained to the 4-year old.

She just shook her head. "I don't care, being sick together is better than alone. Daddy should come and lay with us as well" The small girl stated, making both Jorge and Martina laugh.

Jorge walked closer to them and snuggled up with them on the couch. Olivia smiled happily.

Being sick together, is better than alone.

It was true, and both Martina and Jorge knew it.

Martina always though that the start of this entire mess was a mistake. But now, at this single moment, lying here with her daughter and the sweetest guy in the world, she realised that she had been mistaken.
