You didn't see that coming?

"guys Callie got something" I announce loudly, walking into the living room where they were all sitting together, luckily.

"does she ever come out of that lab?" Sam asks, confused

"she's room is connected to it, so no" I answer trying to skip to the important part "any way we have a situation in the office on 34th street so suit up" I inform them, taking control of what's happening. Tony looks shocked that he's not in charge for once, as I sauntered back up the stairs...

I'm in my black suit walking down the stairs when my eyes land upon the figures in their suits, waiting at the bottom of the steps in a line (so badass by the way). "let's go" I say faintly.

~ skip van journey ~

We bust through the doors of the tall building in a triangle formation armed and ready. people in office attire were tied up to desks with tape over their mouths and masked people with large, out of this world guns in hand, apointed near them ready to blow the place up at any given moment. I sped around them, knocking the weapons out of their arms and sliding under their legs to flip them to the floor, leaving a blue mist behind me.

Colours flew past past, Natasha punched her way through, Wanda manipulated them, Clint shot them down with the familiar electric arrows, Tony blasted them and Steve was throwing his shield like a boomerang. everyone was doing what they did best whilst more and more shooters filed in. I was mentally picking up tables on one side of the room and launching them to the other side, blocking entrances. "Adeline, down now" a muffled voice shouts. Before my mind was given time to process the action, I felt a stinging blow to the side of my waist "ah" I shouted loudly, gripping to the pain that sent me tumbling down to the office ground. I felt two arms hook under my legs and around my back, lifting me off the floor "I'm taking her in, carry on" I heard a deep Brooklyn accent shout from above me "ad you're going to have to help me, put pressure on the wound" I do as I'm told to by the blonde carrying me and lift my hands on top of each other over the seeping bullet wound.

Steve's arms unravel from underneath me and I feel a cold surface against my skin "woah what happened?" I hear the familiar Canadian accent of Callie's voice walking over to us. I tilted my head to look around where I am, the medic van? Steve must have signalled for her when he was running with me. "she was shot with guns not from around here" Steve tells her as she starts to spread tools on another table, this is going to hurt a lot.

I let out a loud yell as I felt her pulling strings at my side, I grabbed the first thing I could without seeing it and my fisted hand collided with a warm material "captain, you are blocking my light" I heard Callie say through the concentration of her gritted teeth... but he was standing to the other side of the operation table last time my eyes were open? "tell ad to let go of me and I won't be" Steve's voice came from his worried mouth and my eyes opened widely as I realised the warm material was the hem of his uniform, I dropped my hand to the table without saying anything through the pain I was in.

"okay I'm going back up front, you're done but take it easy," the blonde says before walking away. I swung my legs off the table so that I was facing Steve who was leaning against the cabinets with his muscular arms crossed

"how are you feeling?," the blue-eyed man asked, sounding concerned. After all the things he has seen and been through, you would think me getting shot would be the least of his worries.

"for someone who has been shot, I can thankfully say...yes I am okay, Rogers" The words barely ghosted from my lips

"I've waited five years to see you again Adeline and you could've died today" Steve says, confusing me. I slid off the table and my feet landed on the floor softly, his warm hands cradled the sides of my face gently as I looked into his eyes with my arms hanging loosely by my side. there was a moment where nothing was said and in the silence a thousand words between us could be heard. the stillness was broken when Steve started to lean in closer to me by the slow seconds. I was frozen and couldn't move, his soft lips captured mine perfectly. I moved my lips against his as my arms lifted to his waist for balance, the connection sent adrenaline through my body. it was full of passion, sentiment and longingness with a hint of fear. the fear was on my side was a fear of losing him after this.
