a blow to my back sent me falling to the ground hard, I winced as my already sore hands came in contact with the stone surface and they began to sting. I rolled onto my back with my face screwed up and my teeth bared.
my eyes opened up to the shadow that was cast over me and saw the blonde haired Canadian that I had been friends with for years. betrayal and immense pain washed over me as her pale hand came in contact with my forehead, I let out a loud scream and felt myself becoming hypnotised "your hands are mine, your powers are mine" she whispered, the pain stopped and I felt strength run back into my veins "kill them" she whispered again, Callie had all of the control and I couldn't fight it, this was beyond me.
"Adeline" I heard Peter shout, my hands blasted him back with no hesitation and he crashed to the ground, Nat came running towards me and was immediately swiped to the side, no tears came to my eyes, no feelings filled my heart. I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned around quickly to see Bucky standing there with worry in his blue eyes, I paused for a second but then waved my fingers in front of his face causing a vex upon him, I couldn't help but see what I was making him see.
I was hurting the people I loved.
I looked around and saw Nat, Peter and Bucky on the floor whilst the others were still putting up a fight regardless to if they knew they were going to win or lose.
"Wanda, Pietro we need to get too Adeline now" I heard Steve say over my communicator, I ripped the plastic out of my ear and let it fall to the floor as the three who I would never want to hurt came into sight. my eyes were still red and my hands were still glowing.
"she's got you under her control ad, we need you back here, with us" Wanda spoke, playing with the red sorcery in the palm of her hand, without thinking I pushed one hand forward with the other and it sent Wanda tumbling back, she conjured an energy field to surround herself but it was easily broken by a blast from my hands, Vision, who was stood behind, caught Wanda before she could crash and Pietro ran after them "ad I don't want to hurt you" Steve's voice cracked mid-sentence but his words didn't have any effect on me, I was still being controlled "please don't make me do this" Steve whimpered as I manipulated the red energy, I pushed it in his direction as he hid behind his shield, my face screwed tighter and it was starting to cause me more pain the more I used my powers "I can't do this to you" Steve pleaded
"No more mutants" I whispered as if venom was in my mouth
"You aren't mutants" Steve yelled as his shield was thrown in my direction, the on-going battle between us two was tearing me apart on the inside, I put up an energy field to block his shield and it went flying back to him as he caught it with his arm. I was prepared to cast a vex into Steve's mind but his words stopped me "this isn't your fault and I'm not going to fight you" Steve said as he dropped his shield to the floor, my hands dropped to my side and I fell to my knees exhausted, it was like I woke up and got pulled out of another person's body.
Steve dropped Down in front of me and his hands cupped my face as tears began to stream out of my eyes, he had cuts on his cheeks and was bruised badly from where I had knocked him back "you didn't hurt me" his breath was choppy and fading, I couldn't speak any words or even stutter, the tears were just pouring out of me and I was chocking on my breath.
"fine, I'll finish it myself" a malicious voice came from behind me, I turned around slowly and faced Callie who had one of the weapons we found last month in her hand.
"Hands off" I muttered shakily, as I brought the red back to my hands as much as it ached to do so
"the pain will ceased to exit in time, I know how it feels" the monster standing before me tried to console me
"You could never" I glared up at her with hatred
"Just like your sister" Callie muttered, I felt her cold hand on my shoulder as she threw me off to the side, away from Steve, there was nothing standing between them and Steve was too weak to fight back. Everything was happening in slow motion. I tried crawling back over to them but there was no strength left in me. Callie raised the golden spear above Steve's chest as my cries and screams filled the streets, my fists banged against the concrete streets and my knees were scraped the more I moved "I could do this all day" I heard Steve whisper faintly
A loud ringing buzzed in my ear as I witnessed the spear pierce through Steve's suit, my screams grew louder and the pain was endless. Everything fell silent and it was like the world stopped in that moment. Without looking up from the ground I raised my left hand and swiped Callie into the building behind me, I heard the glass shatter and a crash from the inside. my mouth dropped open as I caught my breath.
I hurt everyone I loved and killed the one person who I couldn't live without.
I could sense everyone walking forward and making a semi-circle around Steve and me, they all had their heads hung low and tear-stained cheeks, none of us said anything for ages and life was at a standstill.
"We lost" Tony muttered
"You can rest now. I love you. You won" I ushered to Steve, cupping the side of his face as his eyes became dazed and his thoughts slowed down, I didn't want to read them.
I just killed the man I loved the most.
