Our Fate Under Stars

Chapter Seven

Ariana's P.O.V:

  I go back home and greet my dad with a warm hug after being away for a couple of weeks. My dad has always been working hard to support my brother and I, ever since mom left us. But now with Hunter having a job and being around even with College, my dad has been away a lot more often, sometimes I even wonder if he met someone in New York.

  "Welcome back dad." I smile at him while filling a vase with water for the flowers Dylan gave me. Somehow the thought of it makes me giggle to myelf. "Are these from Jake sweetheart?" I cringe at the name rolling off my dad's tongue, "No dad, Jake and I broke up at the beginning of the year remember?"

  He gives me an apologetic smile, I know for a fact that wth all the stress he's been carrying on his shoulders it can't be easy to remember everything your children tell you. "Oh right, I'm sorry. But who else are they from? Is it Hayden?" I stop midway infront of the staircase, I shake my head brutally.

  "No dad they're from Dylan, he's new and we've been hanging out for a couple of months and he asked me to the winter formal." He forms an 'Ohh' with his lips and scratches his chin.

  I go up to my room and hang Dylan's painting right above my bed. Dylan knew I wanted to hang somethng there, but I never found anything that matches, so the colors in his portrait of me were a perfect match to the theme of my room.

  I sit on m bed for a few moments contemplating whether to do homework or not, when I recieve a message on my phone.

*You received a message from Skylar @LitSquad*

Skylar- Hey guys! I don't feel like doing homework right now and I'm bored, anyone free to hang?

Camila- Um duh? Anything to get away from doing physics. ew.

Justin- Sorry babes, I can't tonight, school night + I have a crap history exam tomorrow n ion know shit.

Hayden- (Typing...) (Stops typing.)

me- I'm down, ummm Starbucks? 7?

Skylar- PERFECT! Ari invite Dylan too!

Hayden- Err.. Sorry guys i can't tonight, gotta help Holly with this thing she needs to finish..

me- Awh ): Okay see you tomorrow then xoxo.

Hayden doesn't text back, and I know for a fact that he's lying because Holly never asks for Hayden's help. She's a straight A+ student. I text Dylan to meet us, but him and I are gonna get there maybe half an hour earlier to discuss the attire for the dance. I try calling Hayden, twice, it goes straight to voicemail.

We're neighbors, you can't ignore me. I got an hour to spare so I sneak out my bedroom window and climb up his, it's a thing we do if we're bored. He's got his headphones on and his music is blasting, because i can hear it. He's listening David Guetta's 'Dangerous' .

I jump next to him, on his bed and startle him. "Holy crap Ariana! Don't ever sneak up on me like that again." I throw my head back and laugh "I've heard you say that for over 10 years, get used to it." I wink at him and glare.

"What? Why are you looking at me like you're gonna kill me?" I don't move or flinch, I stare blankly at him, making him uncomfortable so I giggle. "Helping Holly finish something? The others might've bought your bullshit but I sure as hell didn't. Holly never asks fpr your help.

He nervously looks down and runs his hand through his hair. "What'swrong Hayd? Is it Dylan? Did you guys get into a fight or something?" He hesitates for a bit, I've never seen Hayden act like this before, I mean he is pretty protective but Dylan is a sweetheart, he's no threat. "Ari, I promise it's nothing."

I smack his hand and he shouts and 'Ouch what was that for!' while rubbing the red mark I left, lol oops. "It's never nothing with you! I'm not gonna force you to go with us if you don't want to, but at least tell me what's wrong."

He sits there, in silence, I can only hear him breathing, he can't even look into my eyes. I grab his face and make him look at me, "Hayd.. If you're worried Dylan will replace you, you have no idea how wrong you are, YOU are and will always be my number one Haydy okay?"

He nods and rubs the back of his neck. "I loves you okay Haydy? You'll always be my best friend and no one will ever change that or replace you, I promise. I ruffle his hair when a small smile forms on his lips, I kiss him on the cheek and make my way out his window.

Hayden's P.O.V:

For some reason my heart skips a beat when I hear her say she loves me, she's been saying it ever since we were little kids, why does it affect me so much now? I touch the spot where she kissed me with my hand and sigh Ari, I wish you knew what you're doing to me..

*message from Ari*

Ari- You can always come meet up with us later ;P

me- I'll try, no promises.

What the hell am I supposed to do now? Ariana probably expects me to be there, but just the thought of her and Dylan sitting next to each other holding hands makes me cringe.

Looks like I'm staying in tonight after all..

Almost an hour later, Ariana blows up my phone with angry texts, so I simply shut it off and go to bed. I'll deal with her in the morning.

Ariana's P.O.V:

Hayden has been ignoring me the whole time, hence he probably shut his phone off because my latest messages were not delivered. He's been acting super strange lately, I wonder what's going on.

Dylan walked me back home since he didn't want me to walk alone at this time in the dark and dropped me off at my front door where he kissed me on the cheek before letting me go in.

The Next Day

It's already fourth period and I haven't talked to Hayden all day, I didn't even come across him. Is he avoiding me? I've been spending my time with Justin and Dylan most of the time, Sky and Mila been busy with their studying for sixth period's test.

By sixth period I know Hayden didn't come to school at all because we're in the same french class, so I decide to send him a few more texts.

After school I'm breaking into his place, well not illegally.

In the parking lot, I wait for my dad to come pick me up, as soon as i hear his car horn i walk over and sit in the passenger seat next to the driver.

"Ari, I need to go to the office, is it okay if you come with me?" My dad's office is about thirty minutes away, so I nod not wanting to bother him and tap away on my phone spamming the hell out of Hayden.

The office building is located on the side on the highway, with an underground parking. The company building is huge with about 30 floors, on the outside all you can see are the super fancy glass windows reflecting sunlight. But my dad just needed to hand in and take some paperwork.

He gets out of the car and opens the door to the back to grab a stack of paper, when everythng goes blank.

All I can hear is silence, emptiness. I'm all alone in another, dark, dark universe, I can't move, my whole body is frozen, I try to fight but in vain, I'm losing this battle. My mind keeps shutting off, I'm trying to prevent it, I'm trying to keep consciousness, but after a while my head starts pounding and I can't hold it anymore. I give in to the darkness that's enveloping me.

Ugh I start school this Monday. Better get started on the next couple of chapters.
