Chapter Eight

Ariana's P.O.V:

  My whole body hurts. Where am I? I can hear a beeping that blends in with the silence, it smells like cleaning detergent. What's going on? I try to pry open my eyes but I'm too tired.

  Slowly, my eyes open, struggling to accept the light of a new day. But once they're fully open I look around me trying to analyze my whereabouts.

  I'm at the hospital? What the hell. I try to straighten up, but instead I yelp in pain, and I hear a calming voice next to me.

  "Hey, hey slow down Ari, the doctors said you need to rest." I turn my head to the direction of the voice. Dylan. "Dyl.. What happened?" My voice comes out really low almost like a whisper.

  "Shhh.." He presses a kiss on my forehead, "I called Hayden, he's getting a hold of the other's they'll be here soon. Meanwhile angel you need to rest."

  "How come you're here Dyl? How did they know we knew each other?" He looks at me with soft eyes and sits down on the bed next to me, "When they were grabbing your bag, your phone was turned on under the seat on our conversation, so they used it to call me, I was worried sick, so I got to the hospital as fast as I could but you were already asleep."

  I smile when Dylan announces he hurried here, he's such a sweetheart. "And what did the doctor say?" As soon as I finish my sentence a bald man in a white coat and thick glasses walks in holding a file.

  "Miss Ariana?" I nod when he says my name, "Luckily even with the impact the crash had on you there is nothing broken, many bruises and cuts, we had to stitch a few, no internal bleeding which is perfect, otherwise everything is in order, I kept on the bedside table some pain killers to take when you woke up. All you need to know for now is that as you were parked on the front of the building exposed to the highway a speeding truck lost control and crashed into your vehicle." 

  I glance at the cup of water and the pills next to me and before I take them I ask, "Doctor, what happened to my dad?! He was outside the car when it happened. Is he okay?"

  The doctor pushes back his glasses and clears his throat "Your father is currently in surgery, we have no news at the moment."

  "Is he gonna make it? Were the injuries bad?" He looks at Dylan before reverting back to me, Dylan softly holds my hand, "I can't tell you Miss, I'm sorry, what happens to your father is unpredictable, we just have to be patient.."

  "Thank you doctor." Dylan announces as the man nods and walks out. "Dylan.. What if my dad doesn't make it? What happens then?"

  I try to hold back the tears that are forming in my eye, Dylan comes closer without hurting me and gently hugs me and brushes my hair with his fingers.

  He kisses my head and whispers sweet words into my ear.

  "Where's my best friend?!" I hear Camila yell at one of the nurses outside my room who calmly asked her to lower her voice.

  "Oh thank goodness you're okay!" Skylar walks over and holds my hand whilst looking at me with tender eyes. "I'll give you guys some privacy I'll be outside."

  Dylan gives me a cheek kiss before walking out of the hospital room and into the waiting room.

  "Oh hey Hayden, she's in there." Hayden walks in without paying attention to Dylan, kind of rude but at least he's here.

  "Oh my goodness Ariana how are you feeling?! I'm so sorry I didn't get here earlier, I came as soon as I heard the news. How are you, how's your dad? My parents are going to wait for you guys outside."
