Makoto stood and sighed as he stretched his arms up over his head. He had just finished writing in his journal for the fifth time this week and marking the next page for tomorrow, Friday, November 20th. Ever since September, he had began writing in his diary daily, writing more than he ever thought was possible within the last two months. The pages were mostly filled with thoughts and feelings about Haru, some about Rin, and- Actually, that was pretty much it. It pained him how he had never moved on, even with Haru and Rin being together for a full year now, but by now it seemed impossible to mend his broken heart, especially by himself. Maybe he would never get over it.

Closing the book in front of him and sliding it back into the drawer under his desk, he made his way to the door, then stopped and glanced back at his desk one more time. It had always amazed him how no one had ever found his diary, with it being practically out in the open and all. He shrugged the thought off before exiting out of his room, down the stairs, then tugging on a pair of boots, and, without bothering to tell anyone he was leaving, out into the chilly November evening.

He just needed a walk to clear his mind or maybe to just think, either one of the two.

Before he knew it, he was out of his neighborhood and now strolling alongside the sidewalk that happened to have a perfect view of the ocean to his left. Haru and him always walked by the sea every day to and back from school, but he had never really seen it in the darkness, and it felt strange, like walking through an empty school at night.

That's when it suddenly occurred to him that he hadn't grabbed a jacket on the way out, and he started to shiver against the cold. He decided to trudge on, despite how awful he was beginning to feel.

Five minutes passed. Ten minutes. Twenty.

At this point he was in an area he barely recognized, walking alongside a bridge as cars raced past him. He barley noticed when he accidentally stepped off the sidewalk and started to slowly wander into the road.

The next thing happened way too quickly.

Makoto, finally realizing he was almost in the middle of the road at this point, attempted to bolt back to the sidewalk but was cut off when a car sped toward him and sent him flying. He hit the ground with a painful thud as he rolled a few more feet before stopping. Everything around him started to blur and then... black.

Makoto Tachibana was dead.

Makoto was immediately rushed to the hospital, but his family and friends didn't arrive until early the next morning. They were notified that their son had been hit nearly four hours after the accident, while they were at home, worrying like crazy as the police searched for him. When they got there he was still alive but in unstable condition. There was only one person who arrived there before them: Haru.

"I-Is Mako-Chan going to b-beokay?"
"I... I'm sure Makoto-senpai will be fine. Right, Haruka-senpai?"

His eyes and attention fully on Makoto, he stood and quietly said, "I'm going to Makoto's house."

"Wh-Whaaaa?! Haru-chan?!"
"Haruka-senpai?!"

He headed to the door, then stopped when he reached it. "I'll be back soon. When Rin and the others come back tell them I left." And with that, he stepped out into the hospital hallway and rushed out of the building back toward his neighborhood. He didn't know why he was going back, there was just something calling his name back at Makoto's house. He didn't know what it was, but he would find out, even if it meant leaving Makoto's bedside for a while.
