Ch. 22

I had finished eating then I had to feed Athena and Ashton again. After that was done I decided to take a nap. When I woke up it was about 3:30. I went to go see Jemma.

"Hey Jemma." I said walking into the lab.

"Hey Skye." She said not looking up from what she was doing.

"Where's Fitz?" I asked. He was almost always next to Jemma.

"He wasn't...um...feeling good so he um...is taking the day off." She said still try to concentrate on what she was doing.

"Oh." I said walking over to one of the spinny chairs and sitting down. "Can I talk to you about something?" I asked.

Jemma looked up from her work. "Sure." She said walking over and sitting down in the spinny chair next to me.

"Ward just asked me out on a date!" I said happily.

"That's great Skye." She said but I could tell she was thinking of something else.

"What's wrong Jemma." I asked concerned. She didn't answer. "Jemma?" I asked a little louder.

"Sorry." She said. "I was just... thinking."

"What's wrong?" I asked again.

"Um..." She said fiddling with the yellow shirt she was wearing. "Fitz isn't exactly sick."

"What?" I asked confused.

"I lied when I said he was sick." She said.

"Where is he then?" I asked.

"He and I are avoiding each other." She said looking down.

I was really confused now. "Why?"

"Well we um....kissed." She said just as we made eye contact.

"That's great Simmons!" I exclaimed.

"Yah it would be if when we finished he didn't tell me we were cursed." She said.

"I'm confused."

"We were arguing." She explained. "Then he kissed me but after we finished he claimed that the universe was against us and we were cursed."

I could see the tears forming in her eyes. "Oh Jemma." I exclaimed pulling her into a hug. She cried into my shoulder for a minute before she was done.

"I need a distraction." She said thinking of things she could do.

"You could help me take care of the kids then pick out an outfit for my date with Ward tonight." I suggested.

"Yah. I would like that." She said. "Just give me a minute to clean up and I will meet you in your room."

"Ok." I said. Then I turned and left.

I walked into the room to find Ward finishing getting dressed. I quietly flopped down onto the bed. Ward came over to me and placed a kiss on my forehead. Then without saying anything he walked out if the room.

After a minute I walked over to Athena's crib. I picked her up and went to change her diaper. Half way through changing Athena, Jemma knocked on the door.

"Come in." I called not looking away from Athena. Jemma walked into the room and picked up Ashton from his crib. Once I finished changing Athena, Jemma changed Ashton's diaper. I laid Athena down in this bed that she really liked. It vibrated and the face she made when she was in it was the cutest. She would close her eyes and have a little smile.
