Skye should hate Ward for what he did. He betrayed her for Hydra. There was only one problem...
She didn't.
What happens when Skye is forced to be face to face with Ward again. Will she still love Ward or will she finally realize her hatred towards...
Time skip three years. (Bet you didn't see that coming 😉)
"Skye, I promise you everything is going to be ok."
"But what if it's not Jemma!" I yelled at her as tears streamed down my face.
"Oh Skye." Jemma said as she pulled me into a hug. I collapsed on to the floor and she went down with me.
"It's not fair!" I yelled shaking my head. "It's not fair."
"I know Skye." Jemma said as she stroked my hair.
"Our wedding is in a few months." I cried.
"Skye it's going to be ok. I promise."
"How can you say that!" I yelled as I stood up. "My fiance is in the hospital right now! He has a bullet wound in his gut! He's been in a comma for a week! What if he never wakes up! How am I going to explain to our three year old kids why they won't ever see their dad again. They just think he's on a mission right now! They don't know what really happened!"
Jemma stood up after I did, she put both her hands on my shoulders as a way if telling me to calm down. I took a deep breath. "How can I tell my kids their dad is dead?" I asked in a weak voice.
"I don't..." Jemma was cut off by two people running through her bedroom door.
"Mommy!" Ashton yelled as he ran into my arms crying. I bent down so I was at his level
I wiped the tears from my face then bent down so I was at his level. "What is it honey?" I asked as he cried into my shoulder.
"Aa-tthena h-hit me." He cried.
"Athena?" I asked in a Stern voice as I looked at her.
She looked down in shame. "Com here." I said to her. She walked over and I kept my right arm hugging Ashton but used my left one to hug her. "What happened?"
Athena answered first. "Earlier today Aunt Many taught me a new move and I wanted to practice it."
"Athena remember when I told you not to practice the things Aunt May teaches you on your brother." I asked her sternly. She shook her head. "Well then remember that next time. Okay?"
"Okay mommy." she replied.
"If it happens again you'll get a time out." I told her. "Now say you're sorry to your brother."
"Sorry Ash." She said.
Ashton looked up from where his head was buried in the crook of my neck. "Thats ok." He said. Then he got really excited. "You wanna play spy?" He asked Athena as he jumped up and down.
"Yeah!" Athena yelled and they both left the room and ran down the hall.
"We are leaving in five minutes!" I called after them but if they did hear me they acted like they didn't.
I chucked as i turned back around to look at Jemma. She smiled at me sadly. "You're going home?" She asked.
I glanced down at the black watch that was around my right wrist. "Yeah." I said. "It's getting late and I need to get them home so they can eat dinner and go to bed. Even if they are the kids of top secret agents they still have to go to school tomorrow."
Jemma chucked. "Well if you need anything let me know."
"I will. Thank you Jemma." I pulled her into a hug. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye."
"Bye."
I walked out of her room and started towards the lab. That's where Athena and Ashton spend most of their time. That is if they're not training with May.
"Ashton! Athena!" I yelled as I stood in the door way of the lab. Just then both the kids and Fitz came running around the corner. They were all laughing.
I bent down to their level. "It's time to go."
"Awwww Noooooo." They all wined, including Fitz. I laughed. "Don't worry we'll come back tomorrow."
"Okay." Ashton and Athena said. "Bye Uncle Fitz."
"Bye guys." Fitz said as they waved at them.
I grabbed both their hands and we started walking away.

I unlocked the front door to our house. As soon as the door was opened Athena and Aston went running inside and up stairs. I smiled as I tossed my bag on the couch and flopped down on top of it. I listened to my kids laugh as I looked around the house.
About three months after Ward proposed to me we bought a house that was just a few miles away from the base. It was two stories. On the first one it was an open floor plan with a kitchen, living room, a half-bathroom, and an office. On the second floor there was four bedrooms, including the master, and three bathrooms.
We decided it would be best for the kids if we didn't live at the base. This way they could still go to school and if they wanted friends to come over it wouldn't be a problem. Plus it would make their lives a little more normal.
I slowly got up and walked into the kitchen. I didn't feel like cooking so I just made some man'n cheese. About ten minutes later I called for Ashton and Athena telling them that dinner is ready. They came running into the kitchen and sat down at the dinner table.
"Mac'n Cheese!" Athena yelled.
"Yesssss!" Aston shouted.
I chuckled as I put down two bowls of mac'n cheese in front of them. They instantly started digging in. I grabbed my own bowl and sat down across from them and started eating.
In a few minutes Athena and Ashton finished eating. "Do you want more?" I asked them. They both shook their head yes. I grabbed both their bowls and walked back over to the stove to refill their bowls.
"Mommy." Athena called.
"Yes Athe?" I asked, using the nickname Coulson had given her.
"When's daddy coming home?" She asked.
I sucked in a breath in an attempt to not get upset.
I turned around and smiled and both of my kids. "Soon." I replied as I set down their second helping of mac'n cheese in front of them.
Satisfied with the answer I had given them, they started eating again.
"Can I be excused from the dinner table?" Ashton asked.
"Me too?" Athena added.
"Yes you can both be excused."
They smiled at each other before running off.

Later that night after I had put Athena and Ashton to bed I laid down on the couch with a blanket and pillow. Ever since Ward got shot I couldn't bring myself to sleep in our bed. It may sound stupid but it just hurts too much to sleep in the bed without him.
I drifted off to sleep wondering how long it would be until Ward could come home.

In all honesty I was going to start this chapter with Skye being nervous about her wedding but then I decided that you would all love it more if I made Ward in the hospital. ️❤️
