Gray's P.O.V
My head snaps towards him, the orange light giving his face a beautiful glow. He stares at the sunset for a while before looking back at me, his eyes sad yet happy at the same time.
I could hear my heart beating in my ears, his eyes soft as as his smile. "I like you, a lot." He murmurs, my heart jumping in my chest once more.
"It's only been a month, I know. I would use the word love, but, that word is too strong for a short period of time. But of course, I won't ask for an answer.
"You've found the one anyways."
It takes a while for me to process those words, a little bit of salt at the back of his throat. Then he laughs, shaking his head as his eyes remain distant, sad even. "Not that I have a chance anyway."
Honestly, he is way too humble. I would expect him to trip over his legs like any guy would when a girl says such things. It's obvious who the one is and he knows it.
But instead, he pushes the thought of him. Instead, he thinks himself unworthy. Why?
"When I said the one... who do you think I was talking about?" I ask, quietly, gently. Not wanting him to feel threatened.
"I don't know." He replies back, quieter than me. I wonder how he would sound like if he raised his voice. If he's angry or mad. It would be scary.
"Maybe... Kei? Or some other guy I don't know."
Kei.
Kei's in love with his crab.
"Kei is like a brother to me, Reid." I mutter, a half smile on my lips. Once more, his pupils dilate. But once more, he pushes his thoughts away.
I huff out a laugh, leaning back as I continue to stare at the horizon. It's so cliché, almost like every love story but with a sentimental person.
"I meant you, Reid."
His eyes widen, breath hitching in his throat. "I know, it's stupid. We've only been together for a month. But hey, no man has ever been this kind to me. Maybe the one is too strong but. I guess it's the same for you, huh?"
"Why me out of all?" He whispers, eyes completely lost as he looks at me, blinking once or twice.
"You're... kind I guess. You're that type of person that's just so fragile yet so strong. Like, you're so afraid to meet others but once you've devoted your heart to protect and take care of them, you do exactly that.
"I mean, remember that time when I bumped that guy and he threatened me to apologize and kneel but you came and—"
He laughs quietly, shaking his head in embarrassment. "And I said, 'I'm sorry, but try to flirt with someone who has interest in kinks like you' And I pulled you away."
"And you apologized for talking like you were my boyfriend—" I stop; breaking into soft laughter before the both of us sits in total silence. Only our locked gazes and smiles.
Time moves slowly, perfectly slow as he grabs me by the chin. His fingers, the softest touch, almost like I'm the most fragile being on earth. The other hand travels to mine, intertwined with a brush of the knuckle.
It was perfect, the moment was perfect. A moment I never knew I could have. I shiver as his lips touch mine, warm and sweet against one another. The kiss is gentle, chaste and pure, soft and memorable.
I could feel his smile, his slightly shaking hands and his beating heart as I put my hand on his chest. His rapidly beating heartbeat, faster than my own.
We take our time, enjoying this little pure kiss until he pulls away, lips still touching as his forehead rests against mine.
Something wet brushes my cheeks, tears running down his own before he blinks them away.
Three words, three syllables, eight letters.
"I love you, Gray." He whispers, lips brushing against my own. He says it like there is no tomorrow, like today is his last day on earth.
And I reply the same way.
It was our little moment until the sound of something dropping against the ground greets our ears.
"Oh my god." Kei gasps, eyes wide as he stares at us.
Reid smiles, not looking at Kei behind him as he pulls me into another kiss.
This is our little memory.
